probably about 20 minutes, though about 14 of those minutes were comprised of filler "noise collages" to try to get around the fact that the dude could no longer sing, then they just gave up.

Especially annoying because i had to sit through a very subpar support act, and we don't exactly get bands as big as Animal Collective touring very often.

yeah, as i said, we don't get bands touring very often, so when they do come you have to pay for it.

Some of their set is instrumental...so, it's quite possible that it wasn't all filler. Still, it would've been better if they had postponed the show before taking the stage. Any chance of the venue reimbursing you?

Or, fuck it, they're talented enough to put a set together without vocals, or Panda Bear could sing, nu? Lame.

Panda Bear can sing, and fucking well. Really dissappointing. They could have EASILY kept playing. Even if they just jammed without any vocals.

Yeah i know they have a lot of instrumental, but after he lost his voice they started really going overboard on the droney stuff, before giving up. And there is certainly no chance of a reimbursement.

I think they probably "took the stage" to avoid the reimbursing.

no they aren't.

I now hold them in lower esteem, cunts. You can't get people to pay 40 bucks for a ticket with no decent support acts and then pull that shit, especially when you're probably never coming back to the country (or at least not for a few years at least). Cunts.

Oh no! That really blows. I would try to get some money back from the promoter.

Sorry to hear they left you with a bad impression.

I get the impression that PB's role in the band is diminishing, and that will definitely be a bad thing. He sang very little the last time I saw them, and I totally don't get that. The band is pretty one-dimensional when it's the Avey Tare Show.

And sorry to hear about this. However, I feel like I'm one of the only fans of this band that doesn't think they're all that great live, except for a few sporadic moments like when they play "We Tigers". They use the same goddamn guitar effects thoughout most of their performance otherwise, and it gets pretty monotonous. That "droney" stuff you saw them do is pretty much the norm for how they build up and transition between songs live, and some songs just kind of wallow in that.

"Ticklebear, you feelin alright?"
"No, Poopoo Monster, my throat's kinda scratchy."

"...Think we should call it a night?"
"Yeah. All this knob twisting and slow-motion keyboard playing is really wearing me out anyway. Let's go back to the bus."
