Anybody purchased anything from them? I'm thinkin' of sending an order to a friend and his family. It's not a question of would he like it-he would.

Just wondering if anybody has had good/bad experiences with them as far as their orders, freshness, selection.. etc.

we've done it quite a bit. it's worthwhile. they always try to encourage you with free hamburgers or steak knives or some shit. i've not ever eaten the steak but no one's ever complained about receiving any.

I've heard the delivery, ect. is pretty good but, even if you get a deal, the meat's a bit overpriced...

We used to get these as gifts occasionally when I was a kid. I remember them being excellent, but I was a kid, so who knows?

Some of the best steaks you can get in the world. It's all top of the line cornfed beef. Definitely overpriced, but most exquisite food and drink items are, especially if you can get them through the mail.
As a Nebraskan, I can say nothing wrong about this company.

Speaking of Nebraska: Saddle Creek Records, cheap and mega nice people. My last order, I got this sweet personalised note and shipping cost me half of what they paid. Feelin' the love.

between that and wanting steak knives so damn bad are you sure you're a vegetarian? I think you're a secret carnivore.

Chase is a vegetarian? Didn't know that. No wonder he's always asking about fish dishes and preparation. Is the future Mrs. Chase one also? My wife is a vegetarian and it's a bitch cause I'm not.

Anyway, thanks for the input, all. I'm thinking some filet mignon and salmon for a friend and his family.

Steve

i mean, i would never call myself a vegetarian because i eat fish, and i'm pretty sure that they used to dig being alive but i can't be bothered with all that. the lady is quite fond of meats of all kinds (wink wink cough *slut* cough) save fish, but she's gonna have to deal. but when buying gifts i would never force my tofurky crap on anyone, if they want steak then i'm giving them steak. i'm keeping the steak knives, however.

Montgomery Inn Ribs

The best thing you will eat, ever. I mean EVER people! Can I get an amen?

Got a friend with me now who used to work for them.

These are his words:

Steaks come flash frozen and packaged in dry ice. Delivered by Federal express......steaks are choice and prime quality....expensive...but well worth the price.....The beef is corn fed and raised exclusively for Omaha Steaks Intn'l. They also have other gourmet quality foods in addition to beef: chicken, seafood, etc. Depending upon where you live, there could be retail stores in your area cause they are in most major cities. www.omahasteaks.com

And I am said friend of Nude Dude (in the quote above) who emphatically endorses the idea of sending Omaha Steaks to your friend.

I worked for the company at one of their retail stores for about three years. They have excellent beef, chicken, pork, and seafood products as well as a wide range of other gourmet dishes (i.e, side dishes, entrees, appetizers, and desserts... as well as seasonings, cookbooks, BBQ equipment, etc.)

If you live in one of the larger cities like Philly, D.C. Chicago, New Orleans, Cincinatti, New York, Houston, etc., chances are you will have at least one outlet near you. Check out the URL I asked him to mention in the above reply and look at their web-site... there should be a store locator on there as well.

The beef is USDA-approved CHOICE and PRIME cuts only... nothing less. Pure corn-fed Hereford and Black Angus cattle are used. ALL of their meats are USDA certified and approved. Ruth's Chris Steak House(s) - a fairly exclusive steak house in New Orleans and here in Houston - feature only Omaha Steaks' beef and poultry.

The food comes prepackaged. It's flash frozen to preserve frshness and taste, then vacuum-sealed in a virtually impenetrable package. If you are sending the gifts via mail, OSI uses Federal Express for delivery purposes. The steaks (or whatever you select) are packaged in their respective boxes and then sealed in a styrofoam cooler with about twenty to twenty five pounds of dry ice. Federal Express will NOT just "drop off" the packages as they must have a signature from someone, so I would highly recommend you get a TRUSTED neighbor's name just in case your friend isn't home at the time of delivery.

Though I have no idea of this person's preferences, I always tried to recommend the samplers... they usually give a very well rounded idea of the different cuts of meat... Filet Mignons, 'T'-bones, Porterhouses, N.Y. Strips, etc.

YES... the prices are quite expensive comparitively speaking... but, you couldn't ask for a better tasting cut of beef, poultry, or pork.

I was a customer LONG before I became employed by the company... and I live in Houston, Texas.

Wel... hope this answered your question!! I wish you the best. If you have any more questions, please feel free to p.m. me I'll help you out in any way I can. :D

Quentin

MATTER OF FACT:

This is the very combo I used to suggest to people. I know you mentioned salmon as well... If i'm not mistaken, they have several combo packages featuring steak & salmon as well as steak & lobster.
