I think this is one of the bands that I discovered through the original "Top 1000" thread. Just got You And Your Sister in the mail today and, aside from the fact that I have to crank it to even hear it, the album itself is really good.

This 'Katie' track is really nice and quite different from the Drive Somewheres and Margaret Sayses that I was only acquainted with beforehand.

Wow. To hear mention of them here seems strange...

Odd fact: the songwriters in the band basically split - one in Indianapolis and the other in Florida somewhere. Same name, same basic songs, but two different outfits - like an indie fanchise. Both Sister and Please Panic are both great. Seeing them in Indy as a lad really impacted me (albeit in a low-key way).

I had a comp of their stuff a while back that got nabbed. I remember liking "You don't love me yet," and "Decision by the airport" tons. I think they were a big influence on Jake Smith of Mysteries of Life(Antennae, etc) as well. I'm gonna Itunes some songs now thanks for reminding me.

Bump

Would anyone have the track called "Kind of Girl I could love?" It's off of Opposite Sex that was only released in Europe or at least I think so.

I doubt it seeing the little reply, but I gotta ask.

I saw them at Schubas a long while back when they were promoting their most recent greatest hits compilation. I liked going to Schubas because they generally had pretty solid acts on the weekend even if I hadn't heard of them. They rocked out in an "American Analog Set" type jam. I loved the compilation and played it non-stop for awhile, but all the songs on it sort of sounded the same. Maybe I should look into a few albums that might give me more exposure to their varied music.

No, you nailed it in that samey sense, but its a good listen vibe every now and then. Its plain, linear, innocuous, but soothing in that AmAnSet way. It's refreshingly innocent.

Yeah. There was no obfuscation in that band. Most of their songs were basically similar and they tended to go for I-IV chord changes, but they never disguised their songwriting in tricky arrangements.

I thought this might be another Kerry thread.
