A friend just called and scored me a pit ticket to see Devo at the Greek Theatre tomorrow night. Opening acts are Bow Wow Wow! and When in Rome. I could do without When in Rome, but Devo AND Bow Wow Wow? I am totally stoked!

Mr D.N.A.!!!

Bow Wow Wow on Halloween?

How much candy will be thrown out during 'I Want Candy'?

So the Mothersbaughs are keeping Devo going into their mid 50's, while Annabella hasn't had a hit in 24 years and is still only 38 or 39 now.

When In Rome. Huh. People still go "I thought 'The Promise' was OMD."

From what I understand, Devo are still puttin' out great shows. Bow Wow Wow were on Steve Jones' show not too long ago and Anabella still has her voice. Should be interesting.

More importantly, how are her *ahem* "lungs" (nudge-nudge, wink-wink, know what I mean?) holding up these days? She used to be so SPECTACULAR!!!

Holy cow! What an awesome time tonight! Pit tickets brought me front and center of each band -- I couldn't have asked for a better place to see the entire show. Devo were extraordinary! I'd definitely see 'em again -- all those old songs sounded fantastic. It's as if they never aged. People of ALL ages were there and photos were taken.

Bow Wow Wow -- Annabella still has it! She looked great! Not the original band, except for the bassist. Didn't matter, they sounded like the original members.

When In Rome -- eh, they were alright.

Flock of Seagulls -- it's really only one guy in the band with some new kids filling in for the old members. I'll admit it, I sang to the old songs.

It was really Devo and Bow Wow Wow who did it for me. Loads of fun!

Are we not men?

Annoying Guy of the Night:
An older guy (yeah, near my age) stood next to me who was obviously ONLY into 80's rock and 70's disco. He kept going on and on about how many concerts he goes to, but never mentioned anyone new. When my friend and I asked if he was into any "modern rock", his response was, "Like who? What do you mean 'modern rock'?" Oy! The conversation led into punk bands which is when I mentioned that Devo were considered 'punk' back in the day. "They were?!" After rambling on and on about how much he loved Devo, the guy didn't know half the stuff the band sang. "I've never heard these songs!" "Dude, it's on their first album." According to him it was his FAVOURITE. Uh yeah...then, why don't you know the songs?

Glad you had a good time!

According to the review in the Chronicle, the drummer playing w/ Bow Wow Wow was Adrian Young from No Doubt.

Btw, Bob, Annabella's "lungs" were safely sequestered inside a blue corset. ;)

Aw, that's a shame. I miss the days of the skimpy sleeveless (wet) t-shirts! But, it sounds like she's nicely preserved, which is definitely a plus. Most of her contemporaries, like Dale Bozzio, did NOT hold up very well at ALL.

Well, she did end up removing the corset and pranced around onstage in lace, see-through bloomers (sans undies) and a halter top showing off her midriff. Did I mention she had thigh high white stockings with little blue bows on 'em?

I read this post thinking what a treat it must have been. A few minutes ago I was checking the newest torrents up at http://www.dimeadozen.org/ and saw that someone was there taping the gig (natch). So, while I wasn't able to leave the confines of the State of Kansas, I still get to hear the show. Hope it's a decent boot. Quality usually varies from Wow! to it wasn't worth the download. Got my fingers crossed for this one.

Oh, and they didn't put up When In Rome which I consider a bad thing.

Sounds like you have a good time, save for the stiff.

Hey dudette! Ghouls Gone Wild rules!

I just kind of gave it a quick skip button enabled pass through and I'd rate it an ex audience recording. Some audience chatter (I could have sworn that at one point I heard some chick tell a stiff to "fug off": ), and on occasion a bit of bass bloat. The thumpiness is fairly typical of venues but it's really not very bad at all. It's going to be a keeper for sure. On the Devo set "Blockhead" does have some static or something going on, but that's about it.

If you need a souvenier from the show PM me with your address and I'll drop a copy of it in the mail for you.

BTW, as is Dime's policy-MP3's are strictly forbidden so it's a legit copy. Lineage: SOURCE: Schoeps MK41 > actives > NBox > (Oade mod) SBM-1 > PCM-M1
TRANSFER: PCM-M1 > Teac RW-CD22 > hard drive > Sound Forge 8.0 > CD Wave > FLAC Frontend
TAPED BY: "Josephine"

God love dear Josie, she knows what she's doing.
