I remember hearing about those guys but don't remember their stuff.

Mastodon. Conan. I can't picture it in my head.

Aren't Mastodon like super heavy metal?

I remember when The Cult were on Leno for their last album back in 2001 and they played "Rise". Leno came over and said "Oooookay" in a sort of "That was not quite what I was expecting sort of way." At first I thought it was pretty rude, but then again The Cult don't seem to match up well with the Leno audience. I would think they would be able to screen their guests/ musical guests to make sure they fit the format.

That just reaffirms my love for The Cult.

There are now doubts that The Cult rule.

Paw were on the S.F.W. soundtrack. that's all i remember. I like Mastadon because they get to the point when they are rocking, and don't bother with all that namby-pamby build-up fluff.

hey, no worries. it definitely isn't for everyone. there's plenty of stuff i've heard people rave about that i was blah about.

Thanks for posting that. They've apparently been removed from youtube per NBC's request even though it's nowhere to be found on their own website. Wankers.

EDIT: I didn't recognize the song by title and forgot how QotSA-ish it is. Makes sense for Conan.

Well, first of all, Homme is on the album track. Take out the pre-chorus vox, and I could totally imagine this as a Queens song, but that's just me. Perhaps neuro's Paw diagnosis is right on the mark, though.

you're exactly right.

i finally got a chance to check this out, and while it was good, they definitely toned back the aggression for network tv. i think it's superb that a band like Mastodon are performing on Conan though.
