I got my lab through an old roomate. We literally found his two dogs "doing it" one night and wadda you know--puppies!!! Not exactly breeding but at least I did know the parents.

My other one I got from my brother and his wife. They decided right before their second child was born that they were borderline neglecting her and that it wasnt going to get any better with a newborn coming into the picture.

Win win for everybody because my lab is much happier with a playmate and I guess they sleep ok at night knowing that they abandoned their dog.

(I also changed the dog's name)

Herschel, right? What's the new dog's name? And did you ever replace that tree you planted that he mangled the shit out of?

Herschel is the lab. The dog I got from them was named "Daisy" but we switched it to "Kanga" because damned if that dog doesnt look like a kangaroo.

The tree. It actually made it through this year even in its mangled state. It 's eventually gonna get moved to a less visible part of the yard because the original idea of planting was to have a fairly big tree in that spot and its not really so big anymore.

We have two big black dogs. One good dog, and one bad dog.

The good dog was at the shelter for several weeks and was close to taking the doggy dirt nap. He is a black lab and is the sweetest, kindest, most loyal dog I've ever known. He is 12 now. His name is Loon.

The bad dog is a black german shepherd from a puppy mill (non-pedigree) in the mountains where an older woman with leather pants and a tattoo on her breast yelled at him in German. He has epilepsy and periodically almost dies and is a total jerk. Love him though... His name is Lobo.
