I kind of like bob dole, but i HATE elizabeth dole. she seems like a slimy bitch. Also I am loving how both parties are saying "oh yeah, we're going to control the senate". Sundays are great.

I usually watch Sunday Morning instead of MTP. They just had an interesting article on Annie Leibowitz, and have an piece about Lewis Black coming up.

It is heavily linked with the general infatuation with celebrity that is rampant in American society. If she didn't photograph the famous, we'd likely never have heard of her. Still, I think she is a very talented photographer, with a good eye for interesting composition.

Saw an exhibit on her a long time ago at the High Museum in ATL. It was really, really good.

Sheiffer's gonna get bucky on campaign ads in a minute. Should be entertaining.

Elizabeth Dole looked like a madwoman. I guess it's desperation, but she truly seemed unstable.

After much thought, I think a Dem controlled Congress would be a good thing--not that they'll advance some kind of agenda that will save the country, but given this administration's inability to do anything smart or even to do the stupid things effectively, two years of gridlock will be a welcome change.

Dole is less telegenic and less intelligent than Nasty Nancy P. BLECH.

Also, after winning one Senate race with the massive help of Bush's 2002 romp through the South, I would have hesitated to put her out there as the head of NRSC.

This election can't be over soon enough, no matter what the outcome.

And how again is she qualified for her job? I mean she's bitchy and clever and all, but did she ever do anything prior to office (other than look at ol' Bob's Junior Senator without fliching) that would qualify her for such a post?

Also Secretary of Transportation & Secretary of Labor.

Besides that though, from the results I've seen from qualified office holders, I'm more than ready for some novices in office.

Well, he's not a senator, nor a candidate for senate

I also love that Repubs always try the "career politician" shee, but look at her fuckin resume. Never done anything but suck on the public teet.

(also, Kyle, I will nominate "Dole's junior senator" as the funniest thing you have ever said)

I once knew about the red cross thing, but forgot it apparently. The rest is news to me, and surprising. My question stemmed from my impression of her today... it was not favorable. She seemed more like a bitchy, nosy grandma than a caring, intelligent politician.

I have a friend here that would consider leaving work for a year to work for him if he decided to run for it.

I am not inclined to support Obama-like centrism, and my natural inclination to cynicism would lead me to agree with comments about his opportunism, ambition. I only really knew him from the "awesome God speech" at the 2004 convention, and about 4-5 long written profiles in the last year that were pretty scathing in depicting him as shallow and as "carefully positioning himself."

Then I have seen him/heard him 5-6 on this most recent book tour.

Maybe there is a politician that is smart, principled, with a new way to talk to our country. Maybe we can move into a new era of public discourse. Maybe that person is Obama, maybe not. But listening to him carefully recently has changed my mind, kept it more open about him.

Also, there is no way that Dole's performance this morning didn't damage the repubs... stepping all over Russert made her more than bitchy, it made her arrogant. Which is the increasing issue for repubs in the next two year cycle coming up to the Big One. Arrogant, corrupt, and inept: not a good combo.
