The Hideout, in conjunction with the Hyde Park Art Center, presents "Music for Tomorrow's World: A Dedication to Sun Ra." The headlining ensemble for the occasion features Thurston Moore on guitar, Rollo Radford on electric bass, Avreeyal Ra on drums, and Jim Baker on ARP synth. There'll also be "Intergalactic Myth-Science DJ sets" and an opening performance by My Barbarian. Show starts at 9pm. At The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, Chicago. (773) 324-5520. Tickets are $20. To purchase, call (866) 468-3401

I'm a sucker for all things Sun Ra, so this should be cool, but I'm not sure if it'll be $20 cool. Friday, November 10th.

No shit. I wonder why.

Ryan, who's the coolest celebrity you've seen in Chicago? Like, hanging around at a show or something.

yeah i guess he runs a record label and one of his bands was performing at the hideout.

honestly, i dont really have any good celeb stories. i remember Nash Kato of Urge Overkill being at one of our shows when I was like a senior in high school and it blew my mind. that's not really a celeb story i guess but at the time I was pretty amazed.

That's pretty cool considering you were a senior in what, '95? '96? He was still something back then.

I ran into Jeremy Piven at Double Door. I forget the band, Ruben Waters Loves You or something equally easy to forget. All I could say was, "Remember when you were in PCU? I loved that. And Singles." Channeling Chris Farley as usual...

I played a Gene Clark tribute show where George Wendt showed up... after I already played, damnit!!!

But Carla Olsen (Gene's duet partner) was there, as was Gene's brother.
