Oh, I see. I thought I was missing something in my grogginess.

Delaware has no sales tax. Keep that in mind.

Dude, you can't get away from it. Being able to move from CO and setup an OH domicile at my mom's residence as it benefits, though. Brown and Strickland got the Senate and Governorship. Repubs got Attorney General and both State Supreme Court seats. Fair trade IMHO.

CNN.com shows Tester (D) leading Burns (R) in Montana by about 1500 with 99% reporting.

Not sure about how recounts work in Montana. Apparantly, in Virginia, a recount is automatic if the vote differential is 1% or less. But because everything is electronic in VA, it shouldn't take long, and Allen is a longshot to make up the difference.

Yeah that one could get dicey but if all the current vote counts hold the Dems just had a historic night taking back the House and the Senate.

My focus now turns to the 8th and 12th Congressional races down here in GA that were both too close to call. Dems are leading in both but you never know. I'm just loving that Bush came down here the past few weeks campaigning for those races and they still couldn't take em out.

Only one county has yet to report - Meagher County. According to Wikipedia, its population is only 1932 people, and 25% of that is under 18. Tester is up by about 1700. As long as the current numbers don't change for some reason, it should go blue.

My roommate and I watched his speech last night and laughed our asses off. He'd never heard of the Dan Savage/Santorum connection. I did feel sorry for the crybaby son. I'm sure he's getting laughed at right now at school.

The Santorum parents sure have weird looking kids...

Edit: We also laughed at the Woodcock versus Baldacci race. We kept calling it the "Cock & Balls" race every time it went by on the ticker. Oh my god, we were like 12 year olds last night.

My boss and I had reported a particular local statehouse race as having gone to the Dem challenger by 4 votes.

The AP and other media had the Repub incumbent up by several hundred votes all morning, but they were missing two precincts; precincts where we had talked to the clerks, got the figures directly.

So, anyway, the Repub candidate was pissed off that we were saying he lost. The local TV station wanted to know why we were calling the "wrong" candidate the winner.

I told them it's not too hard to use basic addition when you got calculators and stuff.

The last two precincts went almost all Dems, which brought her up from 9 points down to a fraction of a point up.

I think that's my first example in 21 years of radio where other media people and people politik tried to call me out for something I wound up being right about.

Usually I just tell the secretary to take a message then don't return calls.

Yeah, particularly since I've always considered myself a fake news guy - a DJ who got conscripted years back to do news but who never went to school for that sort of thing. Which means I have little stomach or tolerance for people who try to "work" the media and I absolutely despise interviewing politicians or being a "muckracker."

I just want 10 stories in the can that are basically, more or less, local, so I can get 8-9 minute newscasts. Then get a couple new ones for the next newscast, etc.

All the "tracking down leads" bullshit I hate, because I've still got my regular program director job to do.

The local TV station has 10 reporters and I often have better content than they do. Which doesn't say much for the local TV station.

If the news part were all I did, I'd probably get more Mike Wallace-y, but as it stands now, I just want people out of my face.

Point being, it feels good to know I've actually learned a few journalistic things even though I never meant to actually turn into a journalist.

Facts is facts.

The media forgets that all too often.

Way to be one of the good ones, Phil.
