Guess the admin decided to lump all the embarrassing concessions into one horse-sized pill.

Having said that, I wonder how long this has seriously been on the table. As we're going through the worst period in some time in Iraq as far as American casualties, what, we're coasting until after election day to make a change at the defense dept.? That's shitty.

apparetly Rummy tried to resign two times before but Bush denied it.

Still more evidence that Bush is an idiot.

But this is such a damn crock. Just fucking quit. Don't show up. Who cares if he won't accept it. Same for Condi Rice. He can't make you keep the damn job.

He IS The POTUS.

I wonder why a group of senators in trouble (say, Tallent, Allen, Burns and Chafee) didn't go to the president and get him to let Rummy go 2 months ago, then run the massive "Teamed with Senators to jettison Rumsfeld" commercials.

I mean, the best thing about being an incumbent, is you control the agenda.

not much makes sense to me, let alone the resignation practices of the white house.

I have wondered what the act of handing in a resignation is supposed to mean/do.

And Loogar that would have been awesome.

I guess they weighed it out. It could be read two ways:

a.) Showing weakness/admission of being retarded before an election
b.) Being proactive and sacking the fool

They obviously chose the former.

The others, yeah. But Linc Chafee? I'm not sure he even realizes he was in the Senate.

Then again, what the fuck do I know...
