This is Turd Blossom's real October surprise. By not pulling any strings on the election in '06, he's setting the Dems up to be the Party-of-record in '08, meaning that Romney (mark it; he's going to be the GOP nom. (McCain's sale of his own soul won't amount to anything more than his "maverick" '00 run)) can run as the outsider, intent on giving the federal purse back to "the people" & taking the power back to "the States".

It will be just like Bush '00.

Run, you stupid fucking Mormon, run!

Interesting theory, monty...where'd ya read it ;)

Did anyone else hear Hillary Clinton say "middle class tax cuts" during her victory speech?

The prospect of Jim Webb as a Senator makes me laugh. Its like if Bullowrth came true or someshit.

I got a $100 bill that he don't even bother to run for re-election.

Yes, Loog mentioned a while ago on Obner the possible danger of Dems winning both houses in terms of being accountable for "failures" by 2008.

Made more sense then than now. There is a (slight) possibility that Dems will get some stuff done... at least enough to say to the country "now look what would could do if you give us President Obama." At the very least the country will be able to relax a bit from the Terry Schiavo Elmer Gantry crap that has been exhausting and muddy.

It'll be very interesting to see if Clinton becomes Senate Majority Leader.... something that insiders say she wants more than President.

A small, but intetesting fact that will make me chuckle for the next two years is all the internal rules changes in both Houses taking power away from the minority party that the Repubs passed in the last four years. It's a real cast your bread on waters time...

Maybe this democracy shit works, ya think?

not having seen this thread until now, i agree with everyone who said that they'd be a happy with a little gridlock right now. it'll be nice to see a speaker that isn't a lapdog for white house policy.

also, now that the election is over the cowards might get out of the "stay the course" lock-step long enough to take a serious look our plans in iraq.

Yeah...I heard this on Chris Matthews' "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" segment last weekend.

Looks like Allen's conceding right now...
