I'm uploading Never A Dull Moment for Dumpjack right now. Damn, I forgot how awesome this was. It's so unfortunate that he became such a dush and almost ruined his back catalog. almost. I'd probably sell out too if I got to bang Rachel Hunter. Anyways..

"Italian Girls" and "Lost Paraguayos" are awesome. And not a dud on the whole reckid. Easily one of the great lost - or just ignored - artifacts of the '70s.

btw - DumpJack will love that shee

I've always been a hater when it comes to Rod. Don't really know why.

I love the Small Faces, but don't like the Faces so much.

When he went cheesy/disco in the late 70s, I'm not sure he ever recovered to put out a single good song beyond "Young Turks" (which is questionable as far as the production goes anyway)

That all said, I'm told the Jeff Beck group stuff and Faces stuff is worth giving a second listen, and that his early solo stuff might be the best stuff of all.

So is it worth a shot?

Also, remember to take Uncle Monger's advice and zone in on Ronnie Wood's bass playing on "You Wear It Well".

Great fucking song that I will now have in my head for the next 10 days.

And, you just don't get MORE MONGY than Rod and Ronnie.

Cocaine, spandex, PPDD, and Bloooze, and The Fucking Rooster Haircut.

to be completely honest Every Picture Tells A Story is probably in my top 20 of all time. Never A Dull Moment is one awesome album as well. I love Rod Stewart too.

Thanks for this Tanner.

He's one of the worst offenders for going great to crap as his career progressed.

He now says he covers other peoples songs because his fans aren't interested in original material. Says they want comforting songs they already know. Which is bullshit because his old fans loved him for things like "I Was Only Joking" and "The Killing Of Georgie," not for bullshit like paint-by-numbers Creedence remakes.

Rod really means "I'm old and comfortable and have no drive to write good songs or even do good cover versions, but still love the fuckin' money."

Might be the worst offender. But I'm sure he comforts himself with lots of young women and tons of money.

His first four albums; The Rod Stewart Album, Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story and Never A Dull Moment are all excellent, 5 stars in my book. Gasoline Alley is my fave. Now he makes appearances on American Idol. Go figre!

I saw Rod & the Faces in, O, late '70 or early '71 (opening act: In Rock-era Deep Purple, my fav group at the time). Unbelievably, Rod and the boys played LOUDER than DP, and rocked their asses off for 3 hours, all the while consuming massive amounts of liquor, and generally ripping the house down. They were one hell of a live band.
