It'll be known for the trends that won't carry over into the next decade.

Early 00's - Nu Metal
Mid 00's - Pop Emo
Late 00's - ???

Bingo.

The trend of "The ___" bands didn't really last long enough to make the impact it was suspected to.

Whereas emo is still strong. It's just changed. While it use to be all Dashboard and Get Up, now it's all Panic and Fallout.

You know what bugs me? How people pronounce it two thousand and six.

Seven years ago, we weren't pronouncing it one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine. We were calling it nineteen ninety-nine. So therefore, this should be called twenty-oh-six. Which is what I do call it. But nobody else.

Will people call it two thousand ten? Or twenty-ten?

though i prefer my own take

70's - Kraut rock
80's - dub
90's - anything and everything
00's - post-anything/ everything

which still looks a lot like

70's - Crap
80's - Crap
90's - Crap
00's - Crap
