Anyone into this band? Before researching them a bit just now, I knew nothing more (beyond their sound) than that they were an obscure Japanese psych band from the 70s. Turns out they were tied to the Red Army and 727 hijackings, and feared for their sensory overdosing live shows. Typified by extremely simple, languid bass and drums, overscored by searing, glacial torrents of silver guitar feedback, and kind of fungal vocals. RIYL: The Uptight, Mainliner, High Rise. Described someplace as like The Temptations overlayed with Keiji Haino, which is apt. If this sounds appealing to you, trrrrust me, it will kill you like it has deaded me.

Hit me up on PM for "High Or Die".

I downloaded a bunch of their stuff a while ago. Some of it is amazing, and some I can barely listen to.

I haven't listened to them very much, but this is a good reminder to revisit.

I'll have to check when I get home to see if I have "High or Die".

I think it's just circumstantial when I can't listen to them. Lately, my mood has been quite suited to psyching the fuck out.

If you do have "High Or Die", let me know because i have a 4CD set called "Cradle Saloon '78" and 2CD "Live '77".

Listening now.
Not sure how much I like this. It's awfully damn noisy. Some great bass lines, though.

Might take a couple of listens.

Some of their stuff is a nearly impenetrable barrage of noise (which may have a lot to do with recording quality, and being live vs. studio), some is kind of catchy melodic rock, and some is really intimate psyche-folk.

I'm betting you'd like one of the latter two categories.

"High Or Die" seems to be fairly "middle ground" as far as the scope of abrasion throughout their catalog goes. Melody and recording quality are at a comparative height on this release. Still, the grating sound of dubbed-to-fuck guitar in a concrete box prevails.

Looking forward to hearing it. Do you have more info on it?

I've used this site for reference, but I only saw the title there with no info.

I have no info on it whatsoever.

I came across a vinyl of theirs on the cheap when the town's best record store closed down. It was unmarked in a white jacket with I guess Mizutani on the cover. It looked so interesting, but I put it down not knowing what it was because I already had a big stack. Alas, my good friend bought it, and I will steal it from him.

DL'ing "Twin Silver" now.

Jeez, "Twin Silver" is way different than the fuckery I've become accustomed to. Sad and pastoral. Weird, Drinky Dude.

Is that an album? I'm guessing it's a little bit like the bulk of Mizutani. Check your PMs.

Listening to Mizutani right now. I don't understand how this could be so sweet. If ever you get a chance to send more, I'll gladly accept. And I'll put up Bardo Pond's Amanita, which I promised you months ago, and whatever else. Let me know if you still need it.

THANKS.

Oh, I've got Amanita.

I don't have the new Bardo Pond, though...

Thanks, dude.

I've got at least one other LRD album that's worth sharing ('67-'69 Studio et Live) that I'll hopefully be able to upload if my internet connection holds out.
