my 2 cents.

Image

this image was shot by robert capa. it’s a photograph of a spanish republican (loyalist) militiaman collapsing into death. it’s known as falling soldier but it’s proper title is "loyalist militiaman at the moment of death, cerro muriano, september 5, 1936" and has often been hailed as the greatest war photograph of all time.

this guy made so many compelling images of war including the photos he took of gi’s landing on omaha beach. the film was damaged and fogged due to the elements of the invasion but are still compelling.

he died in 1954, when he stepped on a land mine in an obscure battlefield in indochina. he was quite a charater and his story is an amazing one. definitely worth a trip to wikidpedia.

Pretty incredible photo.

Todd, I guess I'm not supposed to make any sense out of this thread...

Actually, it's tomorrow, but those fortunate enough to have it as a work holiday get today off.

We're dangerously close to a Borat skit breaking out. But, I echo the thank you with a thank you of my own.

veteran, no, but afreshstart4me got back from a tour in Iraq recently, and I think there are some board members who were in the military in the past. Don't know if they were in a war or not, but either way...

Not to mention those who have not only immediate family, but close relatives serving now or at some time served our country.

Thanks

I by no means meant we shouldn't pay tribute to those who have served or are serving. I was just explaining the misunderstanding abou the thread. I've got my poppy.

Polly, I meant no disrespect and it was not directed to you. I was just adding degrees of relatives we all may have involved in the service at one time. I would never suggest that anyone would think it less than honorable to serve one's country. s'cool,'k, high 5.

i filled in on bass with the air force dixie land band for a few gigs when the tuba player broke his front tooth on his mouthpiece in our band room.

Fourthed.

What's harder, though? Fighting in a war or staying around this crowd for a long time? It's a tough call.
