It may be a cliche, but mine is...

Simply perfect.
Great story.
Great acting.
Simply the best dialogue ever.
And it could not have ended any other way and still maintained its integrity.

The perfect Hollywood movie, and just a perfect movie, period.

Good choice Todd.

Mine is the Wild Bunch. Always been a fan of westerns. Love the genre and to me it just doesn't get better than this. You can also see alot of the modern action movie in the way it was shot.

It's generally neck and neck with Goodfellas, but having sung the praises of it already, I honour PTA's film today. It's hard to separate the two in my mind because of Boogie Nights is such an homage of Scorcese's film, from the opening tracking shot in the club, to the coke fueled mayhem near the end, the two movies follow the same trajectory. Burt Reynolds is better than he's ever been, or could have ever hoped to be in this movie. I've seen it so many times and am still shocked at how he made us, or me at least, completely forget that he's Burt Reynolds! He's IS Jack Horner, film maker of erotic motion pictures.

And, like GFs, this film is unbelievably funny.

Probably Rear Window, Brazil, Solaris, Welcome To Woop Woop., Touch Of Evil or A Mighty Wind.

But there's quite a few I love.

If I'm completely honest with myself it'd probably be:

Went further to get archaeologists laid than any other movie in the history of film making. Indiana Jones is one of the greatest everyman heroes ever. It was about semi accurate events that gave it a certain realism and it was INDY AGAINST THE NAZIS! It think this movie made me more interested in religious history than years of going to Sunday school as a kid.

The critic in me would pick:

I love it just as much but for different reasons. Stunning storytelling and acting.

Requiem for a Dream

Interesting stories, amazing editing, perfect use of music and sound, psychedelic sensory overload.

Fantastic. Depressing, yes. Soul-crushing, sure. But still fantastic nevertheless.

Fandango and Shawshank are pretty much 1a and 1b for me. At least until Clint Eastwood makes another movie with an orangutan.

I fall asleep to it about 300 nights of the year. The other 65 (or 66, wut wut leap year!) are Secretary or rentals.
