Man, does this suck!
Numerous "F" bombs does not make it funny.

Pretty much a waste of talent.
Makes me not want to see the movie.

Fan of the first album. Only seen the shows once. "Fuck Her Gently" never gets old.

Lyrics aside, the songs are well-written, well-arranged, and well-performed . While vulgar language is a big part of their humor, there's also an element of megalomania that really cracks me up. They can be funny and stay clean ('Dio') but choose not to.

EDIT: Have not heard the new one, and didn't realize it was out and making the rounds.

I like the new one better than their first, but still more of a big "meh". It loses a lot after the first listen, which isn't saying much.

ditto. Got a good bit of mileage from the first, with caveats.

New album blows - I couldn't even make it through the whole thing and it was only 33 minutes long. VERY glad I downloaded this first. The first album is still killer, however. But this sealed the deal: I have no plans to see the movie after hearing this pile o' turd.

Their fucking new song is killing me, everytime I flip past MTV or VH1 in the mornings that shit is on. Then I have to deal with the commercials.
I do enjoy Tribute and Fuck her gently, but man this new movie and single is overkill to me.

I'm sure the movie will blow, but that first album still has some bits that reduce me to tears...like when Jables goes batshit on Kage, screaming at him - by the time he calls him "Cockass" I'm dying laughing.

'Course, I only listen to the album once every year or so.

ya know how, when you have to deal with a major fanboy, it just kinda ruins the band/movie/TV show that they're always freaking out about?

that's a lot of my problem with these guys

Jack Black is possibly one of the most irritating "comedians" that has ever existed. The only time he was even slightly tolerable was in the King King remake. Even that was hard to take.

I don't think he's funny and I think he is a waste of everyone's time and money.

Were we only supposed to post if we were a fan?

Jack Black had me rolling in High Fidelity. He was pretty boring in King Kong IMO.

I forgot about High Fidelity. He was ok in that. But it was same old Jack Black, we just weren't used to it.

He should probably stick to supporting roles (High Fidelity, Cable Guy) and cameos (Anchorman). Unless the movie is just ridiculous. (Nacho Libre, Shallow Hal)

Me an' my girlfriend love School of Rock. We can quote that movie like nobody's business. I also was a big fan of the HBO Tenacious D shows, and the first album.

HOWEVER, my girlfriend and I just watched Nacho Libre for the first time yesterday and had to turn it off halfway through. It was horrendous. And up until that point, we considered ourselves big Jack Black fans.

I really hope this new Tenacious D movie is decent, because I've planned on seeing it for a while.

I made it to the Bigfoot song and then turned it off. Now the movie's not even looking so hot.
