Wow - I sure hope the rest of the movie is better than that.

Yeah, the teaser they showed on FOX sunday was pretty weak.

it took me a long time to admit, but it's time for them to pull the plug on this show. They had one hell of a good run, but now they are just diluting the quality of the rerun pool.

Even long after the fanboys had declared this show dead, circa 1997 I kept watching and still do. But lately, it's been just painful and can't even muster the enthusiasm to defend it in the slightest. The only redeeming point I've heard about this movie is that many of the older writers were apparently involved. Other than that, I couldn't give a shit about it.

Have you been watching this season? There have already been 2-3 awesome episodes. Simpsons bashing is so in vogue these days, but it just hasn't slipped anywhere near as badly as everyone claims.

X-Files movie as a comparison? Sopranos movie in '08? Even if Conan signs on they have exhausted potential material since '87, unless they haven't. What's next, Family Guy movie.

Are writers from the early '90s really attached? If so, then they've lost their touch based on that trailer. Homer between a rock and a hard place? They aren't even trying.

Writers for the movie.

Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, Al Jean, Brian Scully, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, Matt Selman, John Swartzwelder, and Jon Vitti

I'll totally see this.

My only concern is that the show is very topical and current events play a big role in the show sometimes. I hope they don't try to do that with the movie. It would make the movie seem dated even 6-9 months down the road (which will be the promotion period)

i did hear that this season was a little better, but the last few were horrid and they've been showing reruns from the last five years twice a night and they are so painfully unwatchabel.

maybe i'll watch the new ones.

Dude, I am a serious fan of this series and have defended them vociferously in the past, but with this current season and the last, I have to be honest with myself and face the facts. The crop of writers they have right now are just not on par with their previous years. I used to be counted on for some real laughs, several times an episode. It got to the point over the last few years where if I chuckled a few times, I was grading it high, and that's just not right. I mean, you're right, it's not 'Yes Dear' horrible, but the fact that you said there's been a few funny episodes speaks to the drop in quality. There was never a few funny episodes, they were nearly all classic. That you can see many of the classic years about 24x a day and be reminded of how good it once was, makes it all the more worse. Even the voices and animation have undergone some subtle, somewhat negative turns over the last few years. I agree that Simpsons bashing has always been a bit of hip thing to do, but this time I'm afraid the haters are more right than wrong
