it's not so much that it's no longer funny, it's that it's become grating.

one wonders how they are going to ever sell DVDs from, say, season 13 let alone this year

the last eight years have been worth it for the Ribwich episode and a couple of others

I will say that I am sick of the 3 part "story" episodes where they spoof famous literature or bible stories...

on the other hand...simpsons travel episodes are great.

A few years back, I stopped watching new ones because they were just so completely stupid and not funny or clever at all. It got to the point where the current suck was so bad that it made me forget how good it used to be (a symptom I've labelled Weezer Syndrome).

A month or so ago, I started watching my season sets from the beginning again, laughed a lot, and remembered how funny it used to be.

I have no hope at all for this movie and will probably never see it unless I hear a ton of good reviews.

after months and months of only showing new reruns, they finally switched back to the first 7 seasons or so and i forgot that not only was it more funny, but the drawings were more interesting and felt more (for lack of a better word) comfortable.

Just watched the trailer and grooaaan.

This is all the show is these days: stupid scenarios, overabundant violence, and visual puns which aren't funny or clever.

Interesting that you mentioned the drawings. They switched to computer cell painting a few years back and that was the final nail in the coffin. It doesn't look nearly as good as the old hand painted cells and it really lost a lot from the switch.

As a Simpsons fan, and current viewer, I have faith that Groening would not put a product into theaters if it didn't meet some type of standard. TV is one thing, but films for the most part are unforgiving. Much more at stake. Also, its a teaser. I wouldn't expect much. They are keeping details under wraps, so this is just to keep it in the head as coming soon.

Written by the writers of Road Runner more like! Well I have to admit I laughed a little bit.

I'm not downloading any Apple stuff to watch it but I found it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WQ8QFW5ypM
