A guy from the company where I interned this summer came and talked here Friday. I brought the wife so she could meet the guy that I worked for, and to hear about the company I fell in love with (but can't work for, since we can't move to Boston with her opening a business here).

She was smitten.

So she says, "I think you have to try to work for them. They're just too good. It's too good of an opportunity. We'll see each other every other weekend until one of us can move." I said no, I don't want to be apart that much. She said "the summer wasn't horrible, and that was one visit every 4-5 weeks. We can do it."

I think her fear is that if I don't try for this company, we will BOTH always wonder "what if." I don't want to do anything, and I mean ANYTHING to jeopardize my marriage. I told her (and sincerely meant) that I'd work in a coffee shop for her. But to think of me begging for $7.50 jobs just 2 years ago when I got canned, and now possibly being offered something closer to six figures with a TON of good responsibility, working for a socially-responsible company I absolutely love... it's honestly mind-boggling. And the local prospects are all either too small (don't need / can't afford one of me) or big but horribly run. These guys are just right. But they're in Boston. Meanwhile they haven't officially offered, and I continue to try to find people here.

On the up side, I'd get to tour again every other weekend. Vermont!!! Plus I'd get to see Neuroboy, Shiv, Poet, and (most importantly) Ayah again regularly. Silver linings.

If you go for it, make sure you're there by Memorial Day. Just sayin'.

Seems like a tough decision if they offer. I'm sure you'll make the best decision. Does this mean Busty will move too?

Cue the DAC - Please Come to Boston.

Pops getting married in Amherst June 2. If things blossom with Wench, we could very well be visiting her sister (who lives in Boston) the weekend before. Even if I make the wedding solo, I still may come out early to hang.

She's looking forward to that, whenever it is.

And yeah. She certainly thinks of my welfare / happiness a lot more effectively than I do. I more or less checked out upstairs once I got her. But I really, reeeeally liked working there. A lot. I guess I wasn't subtle enough about it, and it came across.

There is a HUGE possibility of this if I show up a week early.

I need to call my old mgr today, to let him know in person that I'm back in the ring. I'm nervous. Feels like one of those ten-minute things you do that has serious ramifications on the rest of your life.

I mean, do I rent a place? Do I go cheap and live out near Framingham instead of a posh in-town place like last time? I stayed in a beautiful apartment all summer and barely had money for spaghetti-o's. Jamaica Plain? Needham? Where do I park, if I live in town? I'd have to pick up a beater car for when it snows and I can't take the bike. Split the dogs up or leave them both here? My head's gonna explode.

Whoa bubba, don't overwhelm yourself. One thing at a time, and figure out if you can live near public transportation.

Two married dudes, hanging out, wives nowhere around.

Normally I would say that this is a recipe for disaster, but you both are so harmless.

Hells yeah. I'll take any excuse to ride up to NH/VT/ME. And failing that, I'll invent one.

What part of NH, out of curiosity?

Ball's in their court now. If they make an offer, I will in all likelihood take it. And then my grand, master "Fuck You to my former employer" plan will be complete. Fire this motherfuckers.

Yeah it's hard to know what to want. Work 1/2 of life lines up 100% in their court, but I'm really happy here. Meh. As Dice once said, "You never know how the show's gonna work out in the end."
