Michigan lose by 100 in the title game and have the entire SEC mutiny.

Haven't you just summarized the Civil War/War Amongst the States/War of Northern Aggression (the latter alternative for our Southern Partisan readership, here at Obner)?

&, if the SEC won, would Yail get to own slaves, again?

As a fan of a team that had no business playing in the 2001 Title game against the Miami Hurricanes, I view a rematch between Michigan-OSU to be about five times worse. Not only would you have a team that didn't win its own conference, but you have a team playing against the same team that prevented them from winning their own conference again to determine the title.
Two teams from the same conference should not be legally able to play each other in a bowl. It's bad for the sport. If the 1978 Orange Bowl between Nebraska and Oklahoma had determined the title that year, you'd probably still hear people debating it.
There's no way you should be able to win the National title without playing someone outside your conference for the title, unless we have a playoff and the two best teams are from the same conference.
I agree with FT who stated earlier that a loss of any sort should guarantee a one to two position drop in the polls, especially when USC won rather convincingly.

My vote goes to an undefeated Boise State.

I would have agreed until their lackluster victory over San Jose State, then they reminded me of that crappy 1985 BYU team that one a title by beating a mediocre Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl.

While it is an intriguing notion, then Nebraska should have never beaten Texas A&M after losing to Oklahoma State, since Oklahoma State lost to Texas A&M.
I'll support Boise State for the title when they beat a ranked BCS conference foe in a stadium that doesn't have Blue turf.

ND were one extremely fluky half/miracle comeback from mediocreville. Aldo, how long until they add the Coast Guard and Salvation Army to that stretch of military academy games? Talk about creampuffs...

They played 3 of the top 5 in the Big 10 (a 5 team conf this season), plus the ACC's best GT & the Pac 10's best USC (both on the road). No way they are as good as Michigan or Ohio State or even Florida but I'd say thier schedule is more respectable than Ohio St & ND is ironically the 1 thing that makes Michigan's schedule look as tough. Navy is at least going to a bowl game

Khmer don't count.

Anyway, they're just indentured servants that Yail sponsored out of Cambodia after Pol Pot died... They'll be "free" in another seven years.
