I think I like Soundgarden's 80s albums better than their 90s albums, but I never heard their last album.

80s album, singular

Ultramega OK 1988
Louder Than Love 1990
Badmotorfinger 1991
Superunknown 1994
Down On the Upside 1996 (and my favorite of the bunch)

What do i know, i was a teenager.

But summer of 98 was bad for me when they broke up and then days later so did Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Speaking of which, another excellent run in the 90's and phenomenal live band.

Have you heard Wax Ecstatic?

Honestly, a top ten album for the decade, possibly best album of '96.

Learn it, love it.

96 was a killer year for music, but sponge was not one of the reasons. At least for me. I doubt that I'm alone in that assessment, and if i were, that's really quite o.k.

It's actually four albums away from coming up in my other mega-thread. That's what reminded me to namedrop it.

Phil, allmusic is wrong. Louder than Love was released September of 89. Believe me, I know...I was there watching them open for Voivod

at least I think I remember that

there were an awful lot of drugs involved

Beck really stands out as an artist from the 90s though. I miss the old Beck.

this thread made me realize - the 90s put out some good albums and bands.

also - the 90s gave us ALOT of albums that had staying power as well...

The correct answer is: Tupac

Pavement, radiohead, and the flaming lips. No surprises here, and no contentious picks, but I stand by it.

I was shocked the other day when I brought home the reissue of wowee zowee and my roommate said "who's pavement?". Shocked, I tells ya!
