Agreed. I don't understand how you can't like this. It's a little long and probably could of have left a couple of songs off. But it's so enjoyable on the good stuff. Can we at least all agree on teh majesty of Heart in a Cage? Tied with Gravity's Gone and Aftermath USA as song of the year for me. But I"ve never been a fan of the too cool for school crowd anyways.

"vision of division" is my favorite track on this
...
i love how they just throw the
jammy shit in the middle instead of the end

my one beef with this was
that there was the 5 song leak
and
"evening sun" was numbered as the first track
it made a really great first track IMO

probably because of my interpretation of the opening line
"it was all just a dream" and thinking about what has happened to this band the past couple years

on the album if you switch its place with "you only live once" the album gets a little better

'Fear of Sleep' is the underrated sleeper track that I can't get enough of.

Might be my second favorite. Good late night driving song, oddly.

I'm with you on 'Heart In A Cage' btw. When it gets to the "I went to the concert..." verse I drive too fast.

I'm a big fan of 'Ask Me Anything' as well.

there are some excellent songs on this disc and then a handful that i'm really not sold on at all. it starts very well, goes into a slump, has a few good ones in the middle, and then ends on an up note. i like it - will probably be top-10 for me. actually, i probably just need to listen to it again.

I don't understand the Great Divide this album seems to create amongst people. meh.

I fucking Lurv that album. It's in that rare category that other "strong likes" aren't... Unlike the Decemberists' previous album, or Stars, or Josh Rouse, etc, I still get cravings for this one long after I would've considered it "worn in." Especially when working on school bullshit at midnight, with headphones on, after the wife's asleep. Makes the whole ordeal tolerable.

I didn't even see a whole lot of dissention to this album in this thread. In fact, I hardly heard anything about it. I think Yail and Loogar are just exagerrating other people's opinions because they're drama queens. :)

This album is okay if you like boring, safe music.

the past couple of weeks, I've been revisiting '06 releases that I haven't heard in a while and I was pleasantly surprised by this one...I like more than I thought I did

still too long though...cut out a few songs and it's a great album...as it is, pretty good and likely in my 15-20 range

ZERO, which was kind of my point with that whole unknown business. The only one I've heard of is Girl Talk, which I've pretty sure I don't need to hear. If that's not-safe music, buy me floaties.

the strokes can't even come up with their own music. they had to rip off the peter gunn theme for one song.

Hear hear.

Ability to cut up someone else's hard work isn't the same as creating it yourself. Sorry. It's talent. It's a skill. It's just not the same as actually picking up a trumpet or a guitar and making music. No, I can't do it, as far as I know, especially since I can't afford the gear. I can't do my own plumbing either, but that doesn't make my plumber Ryan Adams.
