I heard Eleanor Rigby on some radio station at work and it was pretty shitty.

It's one of the few songs on the album that is pretty close (almost identical, actually, save for a few small notable changes like the chorus at the beginning of the song) to the original version. Guess you don't like the original, either, then?

the chorus beginning the song completely ruins it.

The Martins did a superb job on this, and man is it fun to listen to, especially if you're a Beatles fan. the reworkings here are just ace, and shows how diverse yet cohesive the Beatles catalog is.

you're obviously referring to the station, not the song.

I listened to this today. It's cool but nothing spectacular. They should've let Danger Mouse fuck around with it.

Some of the stuff is great. "For the Benefit of Mr. Kite" busts right into "She's So Heavy" and it's just about amazing. "And tonight Mr. Kite is topping the bill" and then right into the outro to "Heavy." Neat juxtaposition there and totally brings out the weird menace that I always sensed in "Kite."

Other stuff is rescued - "Piggies" make a less annoying return.

Other things are retarded. "Sun King" is played in reverse and titled "Gnik Nus," naturally.

On the whole, it's a really tight collection of Beatles songs with odd tweaks here and there.

I have this "Tuned to a Natural E" thing where some dude fucked with about 50 or so Beatles tunes and remixed, etc. Some of its awesome, some not so much. It would definitely help to not be a HUGE Beatles fan, I imagine. I guess this new thing is similar.

So I shelled out nearly 100 American pelts to see this last night (in town on bidness) and have to say that it wasn’t the utter shite that it certainly had the potential to be.

Dark, symbolic, and occasionally racy – not expected
Superb sound quality and loud – not expected
Heavy use of studio banter throughout the show - not expected (is all of that on the cd release?)
What was supposed to be funny was so not fucking funny – fully expected
Shitty parts ran on entirely too long – fully expected

Worst track performance – Blackbird by a country fucking mile
Best track performance (despite what was done to the original) – Because or A Day in the Life

You could probably give a shit, but there you have it. I'm in Vegas for another two nights, but work now has me confined to hotel conference rooms and room service. It is quite the town, though.
