how can the only options be to vote no?

I wouldn't mind it if swear words weren't in titles, but that's just because if I am browsing at work then it is less likely that my boss can come back and see "what the fuck happened" or something like that.

Although Dalen was being facetious, he does make a good point. But I don't really give a hoot since I don't post from work.

Too late, Bright Eyes already made the shmoo poll a couple years ago.

I agree with you. F*ck works just as well.

Whatever happened to that option for individual users to have swear words censored a bit? Hmmmm, Haq?

I've always been of the stance that, if you're checking out message boards at work, it's your own fault and you shouldn't go blaming other people for what they post.

I am against the porn posting but that's more for 'it's likely to offend/make uncomfortable some people, and it isn't so necessary that it's worth that' than for "my boss might find out!" reasons.

I usually only click on NSFW threads when there's something funny in the title or when the thread gets impossibly/improbably long.

Even though "fuck" is a great all-purpose descriptor, it's not a funny word.

Are you insinuating that when people are at work they should be working? That's a great idea but I highly doubt you work every second of your workday. Many times people have these things called breaks. Sometimes they eat lunch on them. My boss does not care that I look at nonworkrelated things while at work, but she would care if she happened to see me looking at something riddled with swear words. Understand?

Remember how desolate this place was on Thursday? That's what it would be like always if people weren't browsing from work.

The shmoo speaks the trooth.

I would be perfectly happy to ban swearing in thread titles if it was a big enough problem for people.

So I suggest Obner have it's own set of nonsense "Doctor Suess" set of swear word replacements

thus making it cool to be in enough to know what the snugglecheez someone is saying at any time

That's a pretty flimsy line to draw. If she's okay with you reading messageboards at work, I don't see why the f-word appearing once or twice on a page would send her all into a fluster.

agreed with above. When I'm at work, and I happen to be rendering video out, which with effects, etc can go on for 15 mins+, my boss is cool with me surfing the web whilst I do that. Again, people walk past my work area, etc. I try to shield the naughty language and pics.

As for the nsfw content--this is all I'm going to say on the issue. I could care less about whats on the board. What I do care about is 50,000 meaningless threads. I know I'm guilty as well, but I've been working fairly hard to keep my topics at least movie or music related as of late. I come here to hear reviews, or get a leg up on new stuff.

I really respect all your views on music. A number of times you've turned me onto some great bands/artists. My problem is, I just wish you would expend that energy you put into posting questionable stuff into posting diatribes about how great this band or that band is. I'm not saying certain things cannot be posted. I, for one, thought the 2006 adult film favorites was interesting enough to take a peek at, and if people cannot understand by THE TOPIC that it was NSFW I don't know what to say. Just tone it down a little imo. I like the board as it is, and would hate for it to become a police state. Perhaps extra forums, etc would work. I understand the reasoning behind not having them, but doesn't the content of the board designate that anyway? I mean, even if its a rock board, and all the topics are Bears threads, is it not a Bears board then essentially? In name no, but you see my point. I'm not singling out anyone because like I said, I dare anyone to say they've never posted something utterly stupid. Done. Off my soapbox.

well, there is a certain religious link to my place of employment that doesn't exactly blow off the F word and other forms of profanity. Understand?

Most bosses wouldn't exactly be cool with you reading a messageboard about music or whatever else on company time.
