Imagine if ND played real teams instead of Army, Navy and Air Force every year.

Not that I like the Irish, but they did play three ranked teams compared to Michigan's two ranked teams and also played Georgia Tech, UCLA an Navy who are bowl eligible as is Purdue.
I can't say their schedule is really weak. They played the same number of ranked teams as Ohio State and USC.

It doesn't matter if you play rank teams then lose to them.

I agree, but they did beat one of those ranked teams and Georgia Tech was ranked for most of the year.

Ohio State, Michigan and USC also play in a conference, which significantly impacts scheduling.

I agree, but USC is the only one of those three that played three BCS conference teams that are currently in the top 20, two of which are playing in their conference title games.
Ohio State's only other worthwhile games were against Cincinatti who upset Rutgers and a bowl eligible Northern Illinois
Michigan's only other worthwhile game was against MAC title game team Central Michigan.

And yet USC found a way to lose a game against a team which is the equivalent of a Central Michigan.

I think we're all pretty much in agreement that Notre Dame sucks.

That said, Brady Quinn stopped at Chipotle for dinner this evening. So, he has that going for him.

Don't ask me why I know that.

If USC wins out, goes to the title game and wins the National Championship, I can't think of a team in recent memory with a more embarrassing blemish on their "championship" season.

What a joke.

Then root for UCLA on Saturday :!:

As much as I hate USC if they win the title that'll mean they'll have beat 3 of the current top 10 BCS teams. Beyond Florida I don't see how anyone can have beef with that. The problem is not the BCS, the problem is the BCS exists & not a playoff

BTW Oregon St is 24th in the BCS

Yeah, not accustomed to defending the Trojans (Pasadena trash that couldn't get into Stanford), OSU is 8-4 playing a very tough schedule... were competitive in 3 of the 4 games they lost. I don't get what the big blemish is... other than USC totally suck corpses.

Find me a National Champion in the last, I don't know, 105 years with a loss to a team ranked any less than #20.

Two of the teams USC beat are playing for their conference championships.

Michigan never set foot outside the Big 10 (a conference that is highly overrated), let alone played a title contender from another conference, and didn't win their own conference either.

And if there has never been a national champ with a loss to a team ranked 20+, that just means that the favorites in past title games have been good enough to beat teams with such losses. USC is not the favorite. If OSU is legit, then you have nothing to worry about.

Nebraska's 62-36 loss to Colorado in 2001 is easily more embarassing as is Oklahoma's 35-7 loss to Kansas State in the 2003 Big 12 title game.
As much as I love Nebraska, USC won their conference this year and beat two teams in the BCS top ten and possibly three BCS bowl teams. I don't think that has happened since the pre BCS days of the great 1995 Nebraska team.

I'd love for FLA to go to the Sugar & win. LSU go to the Rose & beat Michigan and have Ohio St. drum USC.

Why? Cause it would be the 2nd time in 3 years a deserving SEC Champ doesn't get it's chance and the only way this thing is gonna change is if the SEC gets fed up by continually being screwed.

So, will Spurrier have the 'Cocks secede from the BCS, in this scenario?

Agreed, but they only deserve being mentioned in the NC race if they can beat the Big 12 champ at the Fiesta Bowl. If Nebraska or Oklahoma beat them, then they probably weren't worthy of a top ten ranking.
If they school the Huskers or Sooners then they join the ranks of Auburn, USC, Oregon, Colorado and Utah of being screwed over by the BCS.

I had forgotten about Nebraska. As for Oklahoma, wasn't the Championship at that time an essentially meaningless game? I mean, weren't they guaranteed of going to the title game regardless of what happened in that game?

Shouldn't have been. The writers and coaches poll should have dropped them further too to get the correct matchup of LSU vs. USC.

They were only guaranteed because they had such a gawdy BCS numbers that it was impossible for them to drop below USC that year. If the Nebraska rule had went into effect like it should have, they wouldn't have made the title game without winning a conference title.

'77 Notre Dame National Championship team lost to an unranked and very poor Ole Miss. More proof that Notre Dame has always sucked, even when they were the champs.

It was actually last night, fuckstick. I'll worry about the Spurs come June. Right now, I must intensely focus on the Cowboys. RIDE THE ROMOMENTUM!

Pride of Chocolate City, yeah yeah.

Burlington, Wisc., that is. There's a fairly prominent Nestle plant there.... & there are enough Afro-American residents there that you need three hands to count them; lots of Mexicans, though, since they work on the farms.

Burlington should sue Ray Nagin for copyright infringement.
