Holy shit.
It is very possibly the worst sing I have ever heard in my entire life.
I can't even describe how awful it is.

And this is coming from somebody who actually likes a lot of his earlier stuff.

You can fill my cup
You can fill my bowl
This train is ready to roll
Your eyes of fire have stole my soul
Still coming back for more
You are the lock I am the key
Climb up my lemon tree
You are the one your on your knees
You are my little queen
You know just what I mean
Climb up my lemon tree

Make me scream
all night all night long
gonna get extreme
all night all night long
make me scream
all night all night long
gonna get obscene
all night all night long
all night all night long

Baby baby in the back of my car
look now you've gone too far
Have a slice of my lemon pie
One more will get you high
You wanna know you wanna see
how much you can squeeze
You are the one you are a tease
You love my demon seed
You know just what I mean
Climb on my lemon tree

Make me scream
All night all night long
Gonna get extreme
All night all night long
Make me scream
all night all night long
gonna get obscene
all night all night long
all night all night long

(suck it)

Whoa yeah!

You took me in the wild
No one around for miles
You ain't to proud to beg
Juice running down my leg

I wanna chick who makes me feel
mmm mmm closer dear
I want you to be free
I want you lovin me
I want to hear you scream
I want you just like me

Make me scream
All night all night long
Gonna get extreme
All night all night long
Make me scream
all night all night long
gonna get obscene
all night all night long
all night all night long

One more time now

Make me scream
You can make me scream oh yeah
Make me scream
all night all night long
gonna get obscene
all night all night long
all night all night long
Yeah!

Oh please stop.
You're giving me horrendous flashbacks.

Were y'all expecting something better from the man who brought you this...

Last night a little dancer came dancin' to my door
Last night a little angel Came pumpin cross my floor
She said "Come on baby I got a licence for love
And if it expires pray help from above"

She don't like slavery, she won't sit and beg
But when I'm tired and lonely she sees me to bed
What set you free and brought you to be me babe
What set you free I need you hear by me

He lives in his own heaven
Collects it to go from the seven eleven
Well he's out all night to collect a fare
Just so long, just so long it don't mess up his hair.

I walked the ward with you, babe
A thousand miles with you
I dried your tears of pain, babe
A million times for you

I'd sell my soul for you babe
For money to burn with you
I'd give you all, and have none, babe
Just, just, justa, justa to have you here by me

YA!

ps - I can't wait till Mar 22nd when "Devil's Playground" hits shelves!!!! :rawk:

Music sucks, too.

That's a rather extreme bit of hyperbole, no? I just listened to it and while it's not great, it's far from the worst song ever. I think I like it better than his dumb Cyberpunk stuff.

Of course it's hyperbole.
That's what makes it fun.
It still sucks, though.

He ceased to be relevant after "Valley Of The Dolls".

Somebody missed the "extreme this, extreme that" trend that fizzled about a year ago.

Oh yeah, I understand totally, but I just don't think it's *that* bad. I mean, he's put out a lot of rubbish over the years. I would much prefer listening to that new song than his awful cover of 'LA Woman' on Charmed Life. That whole 'She drink my wine spo-dee-oh-day' was not a good idea.

I don't care, I can forgive him because of those first three stellar albums.

It's funny...cuz it's not a great song or anything, but when you hear it on the radio in the context of the schlock that's out there right now it sounds OK. It's one of the few things you'll hear that has a friggin' pulse.

But yeah - the "extreme" part is stupid.

Man.
Granted, I've only heard it once, but I can't believe that you all think it's anything more than horrendous. I was literally cringing when I heard it and had to listen all the way through to the end, just to see who could have created something so awful. I was very disappointed to learn that it was somebody that I usually enjoy.

The way I see it...
Plusses:
Great guitar from Steve Stevens

Minuses:
Everything else

Yeah, well, you don't have to listen to dreck like Linkin Park & Shinedown all nite, either. :P

This is true, but I do hear a lot of The Wiggles.

I can't believe anybody thinks Billy Idol ever released a stellar album. Unless by stellar you mean so-schlocky-bad-it's-schlocky-good.

I don't know about albums, but Gen X's cover of "Shakin' All Over" is great. Pre-packaged bubblegum punk, riding the bandwagon for all its worth, but they still managed to puke out a few decent songs. That said, I wouldn't touch his solo stuff with your 10' pole.

The Gen X record is pretty damn good.
I never said he released a stellar solo album.
But I sure did love his 80's singles.

I know you never said that, Todd.

I'm don't consider albums by Generation X (or Gen X) to be Billy Idol albums. He's kinda the Rod Stewart of punk, meaning that his solo stuff was such schockly bullshit that it almost destroyed the legacy of his early band work.

Very apt analogy, especially since I actually like quite a bit of both of their EARLY solo stuff.

By stellar I mean just that, really great, enjoyable albums. I don't enjoy it on some stupid ironic level either, I like it because the songs were just just dumb pop songs. They were, and are, fun, end of story. White Wedding, Rebel Yell, Flesh for Fantasy etc are great singles, but I sincerely love those first three albums from start to finish, not just the singles. No, his music isn't going to be mentioned in the same sentence as the Velvet Underground or the Stooges, for instance, when one is discussing "important* music, but I don't think that detracts from it any less.

This vibe reminds me of when I was in a used record store a couple of years ago and picked up Rebel Yell and Yo La Tengo 'Electro-o-pura', and the clerk sniffs at me at check out 'Hmph...at least you're picking up one *good* album'. As it turns out, I did, because I fucking hate Electro-o-pura.
