So, after years of ridiculing the Drive By Truckers, Joe asked me to make him a mix of some of their songs. I'd say that this is by no means a "greatest hits" or whatever...just a snapshot of the band in around an hour that will fit on a single CD for car use.

1. The Southern Thing *
2. Feb. 14 #
3. The Day John Henry Died +
4. Gravity's Gone #
5. Sink Hole $
6. Outfit $
7. Road Cases *
8. Marry Me $
9. Puttin' People On The Moon +
10. Carl Perkins Cadillac +
11. Easy On Yourself #
12. When The Pin Hits The Shell $
13. Shut Up And Get On The Plane *
14. Greenville To Baton Rouge *
15. Decoration Day $
16. The Three Great Alabama Icons *

Source Albums:
* - Southern Rock Opera
$ - Decoration Day
+ - The Dirty South
# - A Blessing And A Curse

Alright boys.

You gotta know: My ridicule was because there was a period of time where there were more DBT threads than Wrens/Radiohead threads.

I am on Road Cases right now. Almost half way through. I gotta say, I really do enjoy a lot of this. Sinkhole is a great freaking song.

I absolutely love the guitar solos so far. I guess it's the southern in me that keeps me from backing away from the Lynard Skynard solos and style. haha.

The only thing that is gonna be hard for me to get past is the fact that the dude's voice sounds like a weird mix between Bob Dylan, Mellancamp, and Don Henley. But that shouldn't be hard to get over.

I can imagine how fun these guys would be live.

Thanks Yail.

I'm with you wholeheartedly, contradiction. Yail's an ass, though.

Pretty funny you mention three different people since (you may not have realized this) there are three different singers.

I have listened to this song 1000 times, if I have listened to it once.

It NEVER fails to raise the hair on my arms or bring a tear to my eye.

POWERFUL

I bought The Dirty South earlier this year and have only recently started getting into it. So Decoration Day is the next step you think?

I guessed that there were two. A couple of them are pretty noticeable. I will have to figure out which one was the one that reminded me of the mixture. I can't remember which tunes they were now.

Either that or the new one, but at some point do yourself a favor and get SRO.

And by all means help yourself to this mix.

Forgot my music today.
You savin' my life, Bloor.
Thanks.

EDIT: This is my first real listen to these guys and holy shit, if this isn't as amazing as I've heard them billed! Amazing songwriting. Amazing musicianship.
A southern Bruce Springsteen without the overexposure?

Fukkk yeah.
