Next thing ya know, we're gonna need a stoplight in the middle of Obnerville. Should we give a prize to the 2000th user?

Yeah, I was thinking about deputizing mods as admins to delete the 1000 or so spam-only members, but i'm not sure it's worth their time.

There are about 23-24 pages of people who have never posted. It's fairly easy to detect those who are spammers, but there appear to be some legitimate individuals...probably just lurkers.

Shit, give me a few weekends, I'll delete the lil' weasels.

Haq, if only you could implement some sort of security procedure where new users have to type in one of those codes that is almost impossible to read to post, like when you send a message in Ebay. It took me 3 tries to send that dude a message because I couldn't tell the 6's from 8's and the crooked 1's from 7's.

That would be a pretty easy in SQL, wouldn't it?

Kinda scary to click OK on, though.

Used to be maybe 15-20 regular heavy hitters when I joined. Now more like 30-40, is my guess.

Easier if you just turn a verified SELECT into a DELETE; harder if you want to make sure you're not knocking out legit lurkers and if you want to make sure to get the posts/threads created by the spammers that actually posted.
