I don't think I've seen a mention of this on the board this year. Charlambides, A Vintage Burden. Maybe because it's a rainy Sunday afternoon, but this drone/trance acoustic music sounds awfully good.

Great record. Didn't know the art was that pretty, though. One of Charalambides' most easily palatable, if not flat out best.

I'll remind you of:

Patient, hardly there, minimal, warm, bluesy, reverberant Rhodes musings and apprehensive jams. RIYL: Espers, Earth "Hex", Low? Resisting babylon system one rainbow at a time.

Fucked Up - Hidden World

Part Oi, part hardcore. Most of the tracks off of Hidden World are around 5 minutes long, and together they create a seamless and epic concept of "the world underneath." I really don't know much to say about this other than the fact that it's fucking awesome. Apparently the violinist for The Arcade Fire plays on a few tracks.

Has anyone else heard the album Mend by De Rosa? I think it's pretty good. It was released on the Delgados' label, Chemikal Underground. So I'd guess if you liked the Delgados, this might be up your alley too.

Masta Killa - Made in Brooklyn

Second album by Masta Killa of the Wu-Tang. His last album was horribly underrated I thought. Great beats and several members of the Wu-Tang Clan guest (as well as MF Doom).

I didn't hear anything about these guys this year. I picked this up after reading about em in Paste magazine.

They're from Birmingham, AL. Pretty harmless power pop in vein of latter day Kinks, Sloan, more polished Guided by Voices (the pop variety GBV). Maybe some Westerberg in there.

It's well produced and they've got a knack for a great melody and hook. Pretty damn addictive stuff and catchy as hell.
