It's not the same guy. Or maybe the groups that do this spoof IP's. I'm going to mod in some more registration hurdles sometime, because it's a pain in the ass to ban all of these IPs.

That could work... the concern I would have is that these bots know the essential phpbb form field names and would just ignore the extraneous ones. But it also doesn't do anything about non-bots. I honestly can't tell whether these people are or are not.

hey haq, how about making new people introduce themselves in the intro forum? that way you can at least keep all the spam in one place away from the main forum so it can be easily deleted. just a thought. there are definitely more technical ways of handling this, but this might be a good quick and easy fix.

Well, if you do a Google search for some of these spammer names, like UniMagicum, you get over 25,000 results, most from unique forums. I'm getting that's a bot. Though they're not posting any messages, Obner is still hosting links to their websites.

And regarding the form naming trick, isn't the point to change the phpBB names so it skips them, thinking that they're the extraneous ones? Yeah, I know, too much work.

And it might be a good idea to require a certain postcount before members are allowed to post images. It won't stop spam, but at least it'll prevent spammers from posting pictures of the the Britney Spears bukakke movie available on their site.
