i'm 27, both of my parents are healthy and alive, i haven't had a significant loss close to me, and i tend to bounce back from life's little downers. but, i can say it with certainty: this is the worst day of my life.

While I'm certainly disappointed and don't like Bush any more now than before, I am trying not to be a sore loser.

Though it's hard when I'm in Massachusetts and everyone I know is disappointed as well.

I'm not as pessimistic as many of you are. I'm doubtful Roe v. Wade will be overturned. I'm almost certain there will be no draft. What disappoints me the most is the poor showing by the Democrats all around, and the fear that the social issues, which are those I care most about, are the reason.

Kerry and Edwards should form some kind of aggressive, credible watchdog organization that scrutinizes and hounds the Bush Administration for the next 4 years. Keep it high profile, as if an electoral race is still going on... rallies, press conferences... continuing to fight against the Bush admin's mistakes, highlight erroneous polices and demonstrate how things could be done differently.

If Kerry could somehow do this... remain true to everything he has said... and continue to stay in the spotlight and show how tanacious he is, even after losing an election.... instead of fading into the background as if to say, "I lost. So much for everything I was pushing for for this country..."

I'm disgusted. The one thing that I've been thinking over and over this morning is the enviroment... I'm seriously worried about it. I'm afraid we're going to log and drill ourselves into a wasteland...and not the teenage kind.

"FOUR MORE YEARS" by Kory Clarke

Playing wild, the dying children
From the gutter they spawn
A life created of indignation
Pride and seeker pause
Pig city, oil creation
Over sex-dosed the junk machine crawls
Missing is the laughter, from the death bus
While the eternal human war rages on

Can you believe how little you care?
The friendly face of the empire leader
Conquest of style, ego hate
Walk amongst the dogs
While the violence kills the declined state

Have you eaten today?
I am glad
Your digestion is the sorrow of the hungry
So tired of rejection and stupidity

Cut away to Grey man
Isolation room, a crowd gathers
Fade to riot, As the furor screams deliverance
The claws of the predatory corporation dig deep
into the naive religion culture

Acceptance, blind virtue
thier reason taunts the absurd
The beggar, he feeds the anger
As you burn sorrow's last word

Pain create the answer holy
Learn the lesson passion learned
Hate the teachers, oh so saintly
I kiss the pyre as it burned

Our need flows on, but we feel nothing
While emotion kills with no remorseful deathblow from Jesus
Only you can turn the key
to unlock the tortured riches inside your soul
And find the reason we live

Like some sort of God rejection
Place the blame on heads that turn
You watch the dagger rip through masses

As wheat and grain and corn
dry into a hatred reality,
screaming into a vengeful pit
Pitiful scream!!

The heart goes forward hating
Wanting life that cannot be attained
Justice seeker, pray for vengeance
The purist life is marred and stained

I want the World to heal
I want the world to love
But it cannot

4 More Years
4 More Years
4 More Years
4 More Years
4 More Years
4 More Years…….

This isn't great news, but I believe I won't be affected much by this outcome. I still think I'd have felt the same way this morning had Kerry won.

There won't be a draft. Roe v. Wade will still be there four years from now. I agree on the environment... this is a huge concern. Health care, jobs and the economy will be interesting to watch as well. The rich will continue to get richer...

What really bums me out is that this was the election where our voice should have been heard, louder... and the kids really screwed us. The 18-29 demographic leaves you at the altar everyfuckingtime. We also underestimated the issue of moral values in this election. And who would have thought that those devastating hurricanes that pounded Florida were what probably swayed that state to vote for Bush. Over 1.5 million more voters turned out in FLA and Bush's lead grew from 2000.

All in all, the one main pro of re-electing George is that we're not changing horses in mid-stream, which was something I really thought about and had me on the fence up until the eve of the election. Of course, you combine that with his 700+ cons and it will be a long four years.

This has been a really, really bad year for me - for reasons small AND large. But this turn of events may push it into Worst Year Ever status.

Bush can really loosen the reins now - he doesn't have to worry about getting re-elected again. That scares me more than almost anything any terrorist can do.

People say, "oh it won't affect me"

Stop being heartless, it effects countless others, so it SHOULD effect you.

That would be the worst possible course of action. I detailed a better response in the Roe v. Wade thread.

I don't think anyone is being heartless, I think it's a defense mechanism. The truth of the matter is that it's going to effect everyone here directly or indirectly in some way, even sketch, across the globe, will be affected.

C'mon, Kev. I know you to be an extremely intelligent and level-headed guy. And I certainly am not thrilled at the outcome (though I was no fan of Kerry, either). But don't you think this is just a tad melodramatic?

To me, the worst thing about today is the pelting we have to take from the 4030s and Aricos of the world. Sadly, those cretins aren't only on internet bulletin boards. We all have at least a couple of them in the workplace, if not other parts of our everyday life. And THAT'S the REAL tragedy.

In a sick sad way, this is waht gives me hope. They now have neough rope to hang themselves. What we need is a real fucking leader not Nancy Pelosi or anyone like that...maybe Steny Hoyer or Barack Obama...the new message of Democrats should be: YOU HAVE THE VOTES. Rs have a majority/control of all branches of government and now they have to lead.

Fortunately, thye don't have the brains. Their Party has more inner turmoil than is being displayed and in 4-10 years (be patient, children) this will all turn around.

What I meant by this was that Bush winning won't affect us, as a whole, as much compared to Kerry winning... not how it effects me, personally. IE, I think I would have felt the same this morning had Kerry won.

This was the only positive thing I saw come out of last nights elections. IL knew he was going to win about 3 or 4 months ago, but he is truly an inspiring individual. His acceptance speech gave me goose bumps last night. I look and hope for great things while he is senator and although he in the minority, I think/hope he has the ability to reach both Dems and Republicans.

I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. Who the fuck spends nine hours in line to vote for four more years of this crap? I don't know where we went wrong; did Michael Moore antagonize the republicans enough to draw them out of their farms and bunkers; did Kerry drop the ball and not try and appeal to heartland voters; John Edwards annoys me... that must have hurt our chances.

Don’t be surprised when more bullshit laws are passed secretly and they attack our constitutional rights for the sake of their misguided morality. Anyone hear about the big tax cut they passed last week for big business? Where did that come from?

I’m always a peaceful man and don’t get angry very easily, but I feel like shaking the life out of somebody. Not Bush because that would make Chaney president and that cannot happen. I’m going to stop.

crackmac,

I thought of the worst possible outcome... i.e. some idiot assassinating Bush and therefore having Cheney as our President. I pray with all of my might this doesn't happen.

I'm with GAR on this one. The Richers have enough rope to hang themselves, so let's watch as they slowly strangle.
