It's from 2003 but resurrected by Stereogum for this column:

http://www.stereogum.com/archives/004078.html

There are 13 artists on this list I like quite a bit, and another 10 at least that needn't be on here.

Do people not ever come in contact with the actual worst artists or something? It's not like I can avoid them in the business I'm in.

This is worst of list of some 13 year old indie kid who is afraid of what his friends may think if he buys a Doors album.

The fact that Toad The Wet Sprocket is even listed on here makes this list completely irrelevant to me. Other points that grate on my nerves: Too Dark Park is Skinny Puppy's worst CD? Try best - fucking awesome piece of work. Pork Soda is Primus' worst album? WRONG - try The Brown Album, dorkos. But we are talking about Blender here, not people who actually care about music, or making actual well thought-out points.

I'll take it one step further and say that I'd probably listen to Pork Soda over even Frizzle Fry or Seas of Cheese at this point. The Brown Album is a turd, indeed.

And yes, it goes without saying that this is a particularly stupid list.

They called Pork Soda the worst Primus?

That's it, I'm not even gonna look.

The list predated--but anticipated--Velvet Revolver.

I dunno y'all. Aside from Jagger and The Doors, the BEST band on here is Mike and The Mechanics. These bands suck a dick up and hiccup.

The fact that Tin Machine is even listed on here makes this list completely irrelevant to me.

haha. #1 is ICP. Classic.

Also, Not only are The Doors on there, but they are apparently only one notch better than 98 degrees. haha

We should compile a top 50 list rebuttal and send it back to them and ask them to edit theirs.

Where's Britney Spears, The Spice Girls, Eve 6, PAPA ROACH, pretty much any band that is classified as grindcore, dream theater, Jessica Simpson, and Milli Vanilli for god's sake?

should not be on list, say I:

TTWP (intelligent pop, with quite a few tracks being much darker than the singles)
Blind Melon (not a big fan, but stuff like "Tones Of Home" I can get on.
Bob Geldof (I doubt Blender kids have heard a single song of his)
The Doors (they did more than "Light My Fire"and "The End")
Oakenfold (Some sucks, much doesn't. Prolific sob)
Japan (I bet they've heard one song)
Crash Test Dummies (dudes were very caustic and did more than than just that hit)
Skinny Puppy (the dumbest inclusion. Skinny Puppy were great)
Primus (second dumbest inclusion)
Tin Machine (third dumbest inclusion)

Also, I like well enough but understand why other people don't:

Arrested Development (earnest but well done, nothing Outkast hasn't tried, just more AC about it.)
Alan Parsons Project
Kansas
(obviously these kids haven't heard whole albums by Kansas or APP)
Hooters (bigtime ex-girlfriend music from years back)
Jamiroquai (lotsa talent even if it's not my thing)
Dan Folgelberg (beyond the hits the dude was aight)
Howard Jones (ditto)
Emerson, Lake & Palmer (good musicians, even if the songs could be overbearing)
Rick Wakeman (he got the Jesus prog, but then I used to listen to the Jesus prog)

special notice: Iron Butterfly. For heroin addicts who sucked, they sucked most righteously.

Gawd there's much worse on the planet than this, much of it probably defended by Blender.

Speech is an arrogant li'l shit, but I will defend him here. Comparing him & his band to Outkast, with OK treated as the antecedent, is laughable. Arrested Development was cutting hit records -- erm, a hit record -- while Big Boi & Dre were still working the fry-o-lator at Chick*fil*a.

Where do you see antecedent? I'm just saying AD were no worse than Outkast's most earnest tracks. And plenty of people praise Outkast for those tracks while snickering at groups like Arrested Development and PM Dawn.
