... and a woodsman and a younger guy and a petite woman and, like, a dog and a cat.

I picked Laura up at her house tonight and dropped her off in the middle of the woods. Kind of like something you'd do if an unwanted house cat needed to be "taken care of".

We were greeted by said petite woman and the woodsman. It was outside, dark and he showed us his palm. At first it looked as though he was showing us an open wound, but we later found out the petite woman had put some sort of tar on a splinter.

The house was at the end of a dirt road, up a hill and Laura was in full-on horror movie mode. I gave her my pocket knife.

All of this shifting for a new job. Congrats, lady!

That was my goal.

In short, Laura is without car at the moment and recently secured herself a new job a bit of a distance from her house, so until she can drive again she's renting a room in a house near work.

Ohh, yeah, the "Surpise Mountains." As in, you're driving through what you think will be flat country, coming back from upstate NY, and you round a corner, and holy shit there's a mountain range. I had a tasty ice cream drumstick sitting on the bike at a gas station in North Adams.

The dirt road this house was up actually had speed bumps. I can't imagine there was a speeding problem with the, maybe, five cars traveling that road daily, but I was horrified to find out there was cell service and high speed internet up there. Goddamn Jacksonville...
