I just posted some of my favorite songs in another thread and noticed that three mentioned the moon.

Big Star - Blue Moon
Tom Waits - I'll Shoot the Moon
Belly - Low Red Moon

Other favorites are:

Microphones - The Moon
Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
Fly me to the Moon (various versions)

So now I want to make a cd about the moon. Are there any more good moon songs?

Cat Stevens - Moonshadow
Air - Moon Safari(I know it's an album, but at least it mentions the moon).

And also that song Cat's Cradle. I always forget who sings it because I don't care. It's #1 on the list of songs people cover at open mics. ugh.

when i was a kid, my mom would always sing:

"oh mr. moon, moon
bright and shiney moon
oh won't you please shine down on me.

well there's a man behind me with a big atom gun
i know my life's in danger, but, i'm too scared to run

oh mr. moon, moon
bright and shiney moon
oh won't you please shine down on me"

. . .i'm sort of partial to that one.
