Chicago defensive tackle Tommie Harris will miss the first game of his three-year NFL career on Monday night when the Bears play at St. Louis.

And the situation could get a lot worse, with the possibility now that Harris might be sidelined for the balance of the season.

I am sorry I don't completely grasp intent and motivation and tone in a post from someone whose main discussion is of porn, fart jokes, and sex with minors.

And, to be clear, I still have no idea if you were being sarcastic about Grossman.

I'm a big believer that you can win the Super Bowl with a great defense and a mediocre QB. You can even win with a great defense and a streaky QB. But you can't win with a bad QB. It's never happened before.

Well, Rex Grossman is bad. I don't care if they're 10-2. He's bad. And I'm not just talking about his minus-5 fantasy performance last week, or how he had the lowest QB rating (1.3) for a winning quarterback since the Vikings' Gary Cuozzo in 1971, or how he's turned the ball over 18 times in seven days, or how he's walking off the field like he just gave up a game-winning homer 8-10 times a game. Consider these three things:

A. I had a conversation with someone Sunday night when we wondered if the Vikes would have had a better chance in Chicago had they simply kept kneeling three consecutive times, punting, then relying on Rex to be their offense. We both decided, "yes." This actually happened.

B. Doc Rivers (a Chicago native) weighed in on the QB controversy this week by saying, "Don't change. Don't change! They're 10-2." When Doc Rivers thinks you're doing the right thing, it's time to switch gears.

C. You know when someone is down to a few suitcases left on "Deal or No Deal," including a couple of the big money ones, then one of the models opens the "$1,000,000" suitcase, followed by the contestant going into shock for two seconds and abruptly snapping into, "that's OK, that's OK!" mode even though we know they're absolutely devastated inside? Well, that's how Lovie Smith has been dealing with Grossman's ongoing meltdown. He's in constant "that's OK, that's OK!" mode. Look, I'm not a huge Brian Griese fan, either. But at some point, Lovie is going to run out of suitcases, right?

I think Rex is going to step it up in these next four games on the road to the playoffs. STAY THE COURSE, he has shown flashes of brilliance early in the season and just needs to get back on track. For christsakes he's essentially a rookie QB. Let him make mistakes. If by chance he doesn't improve through the end of the regular season then we'll see. I love how everybody jumps on the fucking bandwagon immediately after he does well or has a shitty game. OH HE's AWESOME!...OH HE'S SO SHITTY! The truth is he's neither...Rex has promise and in time, will deliver the goods, watch and see.

...and I can't wait to torment Bob and his Cowboys in the playoffs if that comes to pass.

Don't worry, Rami. There's still an OUTSIDE shot your Bears will make it out of the second round.

If Ron Turner does not run on first down against the 31st-against-the-run Rams, I'm going to punch his stupid face.

My main beef with this Grossman issue has been the lack of running on first down. Incompletion on first down = two MORE passing situations. Turner better wise up and put Grossman in 2nd and 6 and 2nd and 4 situations so he can do play action slants and crosses more effectively.

I'd say 40% of the troubles with Grossman can be squarely put on Ron Turner.

I tend to lean towards poor decision making but i can see your point about avoiding third and long.......Benson needs to see more time....a north-south runner would be more conducive to getting positive yardage early on downs.

I really like Cedric Benson, and I've been hoping for weeks that he'd start getting more playing time. He looked VERY solid against the #1 run defense last week, that should certainly earn him some more time on the field.

Well, Billy Boy, neither am I. Luckily, though, there's Orton.
