What's your feeling about the game?

I've heard good things about UW (some good new freshman) but i haven't had a chance to see them.

I like the more balanced Zag team but they seem a bit inconsistent....hopefully their streak at the kennel doesn't come to an end.

It's not on TV here so i won't get to watch it.

I say the Zags pull out a squeaker.

on a seperate note: I hope the Badgers crush Marquette in the second half.....most of the people in my apartment complex are Marquette students or grads and they're almost entirely obnoxious......i hope to see them stumble in depressed and i can throw out stuff like ......"man, what a great game"...."That was college basketball at it's finest"

Unfortunately, I agree with you---but I think the Zags win by at least 8-10. Washington is starting 3 freshmen and 2 sophomores, and they've shown their inexperience so far this season. They are highly overrated in the the national polls right now. Yeah, they're 7-0, but the only decent team they've played is Northern Iowa (obviously not world beaters). GU will be fired up after that upset loss at WSU on Wednesday. They haven't lost 2 games in a row in 4 years and haven't lost at home in 3 years. This all adds up to a tough game for the Dawgs.

That being said, their freshmen and sophomores are a lot of fun to watch, and if everyone stays next season, we should be able to make a run at the national title.

Despite the expected loss, I'm still looking forward to the game tonight.

When they lost to WSU I actually thought it was a good thing for this game.

I hope their lack of athleticism doesn't come back to haunt them. I think Pargo will be vital in the long run.

Are you getting the game in the SLC?

Yeah--I was pulling for GU to win that one too.

UW has athleticism in abundance, but are very raw. Spencer Hawes was the big name frosh, but thus far, Quincey Pondexter has out-performed him and been their best freshman.

I have the Fox Sports Net package, so I get most the Husky games on the NW affiliate. So yes, I'll be watching from Utah.

Washington is also playing in the Elite 8 of the Women's Volleyball tournament. They play Penn State in Seattle, with Penn State actually being the higher tournament seed.
Nebraska is the Number One seed again this year and playing Minnesota down in Florida for a trip to Omaha.
If Nebraska wins, they essentially have homecourt next weekend.

Didn't UW beat Nebraska in the finals of Vball last year? Maybe a rematch this season.

The Huskers are playing Oregon on FSN right now. Oregon up 39-29 with 17 min remaining.

Nebraska lost in three sets to Washington last year, by the scores of 30-25, 30-26, 30-25. They were surprisingly close games for a sweep.

Nebraska lost to Rutgers in Basketball last weekend, so it won't be a big shock if they lose to the Ducks.

Apparently the channel the Zags are usually on is showing high school football from Oregon tonight.

They're showing the OR HS games here too, right before the UW/GU game. I'd check in at 10pm central, just to be sure.

Oregon beat Nebraska by 12 and the Husker Volleyball team has lost the first two sets, not a good performance so far this month by Husker teams.

Nebraska tied it up at two sets a piece and are currently winning the tie breaking set. It will be an amazing feat if they win three straight sets after losing the first two by decent margins.

Solid win for the Zags...i didn't get to watch the game becasue they had another high school football game on.

This is a shame however:

"The game was the last in the annual series the instate rivals have played for the last decade. Washington is choosing not to renew the contract because it says it has no room on its more national schedule next season."

Yeah, like perennially-ranked Gonzaga isn't a nationally-recognized program. This ain't like back in the Stockton days, when they were just Bing's backwater alma mater.

It's unfortunate, I agree.

There are some mitigating factors, such as Gonzaga turning in a UW asst coach (Cameron Dollar) to the NCAA for some minor recruiting violations three years ago, leading to some nominal penalties---some bad blood there.

I can also see UW's point of view, in that they can schedule LSU, Pitt, Louisville, etc. and be seen nationally on ESPN/CBS or play GU and be seen in Yakima, Walla Walla and Spanaway---there are some recruiting advantages to playing a bigger national power. Granted, they could drop Sacramento St. from their schedule instead, but I guess they figure playing in the Pac 10 gives them a tough enough schedule as it is :shrug

All that being said, I wish they'd keep GU on the schedule too.

Oh, and congrats to DHRJ for that ass-kicking they put on UW last night--they were definitely fired up for that one, and clearly the better team last night.
