Has anyone heard of Verbow? Local Evanston/Chicago group, also did fairly well as an opening band in the 90s-00s.

Now, how about owning an album or two from them? Anyone? I've been searching slsk all day and have found nothing. I used to own both White Out and Chronicles, but lost them in the divorce.

Song from them. I don't know the name of the song because it was untitled on my computer. Let me know if you like the song.

Saw them (as "Jason and Alison") open for Bob Mould back in around '95 or so.
Nothing like a cello through a Marshall amp to brighten your day!

They was good.

holy shit, I just had a discussion about this band at a party last weekend. I had never heard of them. I need to check this out

funny aside: at the same party I got into a serious discussion with Ed Roeser about raising his 3-year-old son in an environment so rife with consumerism

I used to see Jason and Allison (as J&A) at Uncommon Ground before they went and got all fancy on us. Literally, the entire place would be packed with people and in the middle of it all was J&A. I've cried at so many of their shows... Jason's voice sounds like it's coming from a freaking angel. And no one's more of a rockstar than that guy. I saw them at Morseland (again, before they went fancy) and he jumped off of the bass drum onto a table and it was nuts.

I love Verbow.

While we're on the topic of Chicago musicians, I learned a few weeks back that Dan Pritzker (Sonia Dada) is worth two billion dollars. I've met this guy on many occasions. He doesn't seem like a billionaire.

Oh, and Timis, I think Verbow got fucked with their record contract. My ex had their White Out demo(s) back in '98 and the record wasn't released until 2000. I think they could've been huge if they had someone competent on their side.

Well, Pritzker is a name that, if you listen to NPR, you hear a lot.
"Made possible, in part, by The Pritzker Foundation."

Must be the same family.
Not sure what the hell they do/did, though.

They own the Hyatt. Like, the whole f'ing company. Craziness.

And Dan "owns" Sonia Dada. Like, he pays the salaries of the band members and everything. Dude's like Santa Pritzker.

haha... trust me when i say that dan pritzker and the JAsMinE(S) combination will never be at the same show. we don't listen to hippie, crunchy music and he doesn't listen to the rawk.

I saw Verbow open for Frank Black, I'm pretty sure, in the mid to late 90s in Sacramento. I liked them enough to pick up their albums on the cheap, but they did not meet expectations and I sold them off years ago.

They're no Merzbow but they're alright.
