listening to this today for the first time in forever.

i didn't like this at all when it first came out. i thought it was raw, sure, but it felt like posturing. kinda mindless, without a soul.

but i sure do like it today. it's not shattering my life, but i get it now. perhaps it's (strange) that i'm listening to it on headphones...

"Maps" makes my dick melt. It's practically down to nothing now.

"Black Tongue" rocks balls.
"Tick," too.
"Maps" is underrated.

Yeah, the record's got legs.

is that one of those "the beatles are underrated"-like comments? or maybe you were just living under a rock in 2004 when that single charted, had a video nominated for all sorts of awards, was in constant rotation on modern music video networks, was on an album that garnered a grammy nomination, and had everyone and their mother loving it.

Underrated as a quality song, asshats.
I think its ubiquity in '04 turned a lot of people off and lessened their opinion of its merit as a composition.
That whole, "I liked this when 5 people knew of it but now that it's on the radio a lot it automatically sucks" mentality.

But it's a good song.

Fever to Tell is still one of my favorite albums of the decade. It has a nice raw sound that you don't hear much anymore in rock music, or music in general.

I think you're inferring something that's not there. Who said this? Or are you just attributing this feeling generally to the sinister hipster "they"?

I love the guitar on "Man" and "No No No". Just some great loud, simple, nasty grooves by the guitar player. Cool instrumental lead out on "No No No" as well.

I wished I caught em the last time they came through town.

I actually like this better than Show Your Bones and it's in my top 20 for 2006.

Naw, no straw man going on. It's something I ran into around here, though part of it was likely from friends who met Karen O and found to be a complete diva-ish space cadet and couldn't take her seriously as a singer because of it. I wasn't there so I was never soured. As such, I dig the song a bunch.

I really dig this album and every song is excellent in my book, but "Pin" (color me odd) is probably my favorite.

This entire record kicks my ass, start to finish.

Would probably be in my top four of the last five years.

Um... that's a good thing?

"Black Tongue" is my fav. I love playing it back to back with "Tame" by the Pixies when I'm DJing.

I like the YYY's, but never really got the orgasm the way so many others did.
"Fever To Tell" is a cool tune, as are the songs on most of the rest of the album. Maybe I need to see them live to really "get" it.

I'm sure they're devestating when they're throwing their sweat on you.

I've listened to this album maybe twice all the way through...perhaps I'll give it a spin this week.

I do have this album on picture disc vinyl and I wear the promo shirt for this record quite frequently...
