I did a search for this album and didn't come up with any posts. Pitchfork describes it as dubstep with female vocals. Sounds intriguing, but could also be disastrous.

it's a mix of vocal electronic music, dubstep vibes, and dare i say, folk. some cool songs on it, but failed to hold my interest very long.

are Pitchfork just now on to this? It was out way earlier in the year.

if you're looking for dubstep, check this mix out. some of the biggest tunes out at the moment.

Already got your mix dude.

I'll still probably pick the Various album up. Might be interesting.

Yeah, I heard this months ago and just assumed very few people stateside were going to find out about it.

Unlike Dalen, I liked the album quite a bit and still listen to it once in a while. The broad mix of styles works nicely for me (the folky tracks are killer), and it's a good disc to turn to in lieu of new Portishead material.

It came out in June (17th to be precise).

I have to say I was disappointed when I hear it after some of the reviews I'd read. Like Dalen hinted it's basically Dubstep crossed with a sort of medieval/Fairport Convention style folk.

I found the female vocals pretty annoying (I really don't like that style and I'd compare them more towards Espers than Portishead) and it resides close to the bottom of my 2006 list (46th from 54).

Also the album cover looks like it was drawn by a 14 year old art student.

I should have added that your mix is really good. Can't really listen to it at work because my crappy stereo has no real base. Gotta have a subwoofer for dubstep.
