As the RIAA continue to claim that music piracy is causing a serious impact on their business, (even going as far as to attempt to lower artist royalties), we've received a list indicating the top-ranked contraband products in the world. So where do you think illegal movies and music fall? You'll be suprised.

Pirated music is actually tied with "Illegal fishing", and is well below "Illegal Logging", "Counterfeit Auto Parts", and even....gasp..."Trash Smuggling".

1 Marijuana

2 Counterfeit Technology Products

3 Cocaine

4 Opium/Heroin

5 Pirated Web Videos

6 Counterfeit Pharmaceutical Drugs

7 Pirated Software

8 Human Trafficking

9 Amphetamines/Meth

10 Animals and Wildlife Smuggling

11 Pirated Movies

12 Ecstasy

13 Illegal Logging

14 Counterfeit Auto Parts

15 Trash Smuggling

16 Human Smuggling

17 Art and Antique Smuggling

18 Smuggled Cigarettes

19 Gas and Oil Smuggling

20 Counterfeit Clothing

21 Pirated Music

Reminds me of that Dilbert where employees are listed as the company's 8th best asset.

"I'm afraid to ask what was 7th?"
"Carbon paper."

I'm guessing this refers to sales of physical pirated CDs, in which case it has limited relevance to the RIAA's claims.

Someone want to explain the difference between these two?

Human trafficking involves buying and selling of people (mostly young girls and mostly for brothels that cater to that crowd).

"Trafficking in human beings is the commercial trade of human beings, who are subjected to involuntary acts such as begging, sexual exploitation (eg. prostitution and forced marriage), or unfree labour (eg. involuntary servitude or working in sweatshops). Trafficking involves a process of using physical force, fraud, deception, or other forms or coercion or intimidation to obtain, recruit, harbour, and transport people."

Human smuggling is more along the lines of transporting immigraints into other countries say Mexico into the US.

"People smuggling is a term which is used to describe transportation of people across international borders to a non-official entry point of a destination country for financial gain. Typically those being transported may not have adequate formal travel documents or prior approval to enter the destination country."
