i've never been able to get into the Band..i've tried listening and it doesn't really connect.

Would suggest watching The Last Waltz if you haven't.

this broadened my level of disconnect.

I tried to watch it a few months back, but found myself not caring and just fast-forwarding to the Van Morrison part.

This newfound interest in The Band is mind-boggling. I used to get made fun of for owning Band albums. Anyway, while I'm not crazy about any versions I don't mind the Gomez take nor the MMJ take. This probably won't be too high on my "to buy" list. Hopefully I'll find a used copy.

Say wha? What's not to like in the Band. Great musicians, songwriters, singers crafting the finest songs based in Americana filtered through Canada and tempered as road band for Ronnie Hawkins and backing up Bob Dylan. Pure Rock'N'Roll.

That's exactly my point. I've been listening to them for awhile, and I can remember in college even getting made fun of for listening to them.

You had the wrong friends in college; we used to rock out to the Band.

Yeah, during the years when it never got weird enough.

Jewels and Tommy and whoever "can't get into The Band" and/or "Couldn't get through The Last Waltz" your ghetto pass is revoked. What the fuck is WRONG with you people?

Jewels -- I'm gonna have rory rock you in the jaw when he sees you next. Blech!
