np (ironically): kings of convenience - riot on an empty street, about as far as you can get musically.

Yeah I found a CD of theirs for $1 called Canada Songs. It's OK, but I ultimately traded it on lala. Reminded me of that Racebannon group that Drinky put on a mix earlier this year.

I think that's pretty much how he described them.

If they sound like Racebannon, that's a plus in my book.

So I bought Hell Songs (their current one, I think) at the Tower sale over the weekend.

Currently on my third listen now, and I think it's safe to say that I like it. It's pretty short (23 minutes), and maybe not really all that crazy or noisy. I'd actually say it's kinda like a cross between The Jesus Lizard and Fantomas. The vocals really remind me of David Yow, and musically they kinda have that '90s Steve Albini Touch & Go sound but spazzier and with a little more metal bent.

Not really that much like Racebannon, IMO. Racebannon is more about operatic mania and occassionally working their way into some deep grooves. Racebannon songs build more while Daughters try to pull you through a bunch of rapid twists and turns. Mostly their songs are just 3 times longer than Daughters', and the singer screams/sings more maniacally.
