It is one step above being a piece of modern art in that respect.

okay, this asinine comment called me out of the woods.
what the hell are you talking about?

Oh ayah. Relax.

I just meant that at a glance the photo just looked like two solid colors with no real detail of anything.

Maybe you have a crappy monitor? To me, there's a lot of variance. Just above the dark ground, you can see (I know, barely) the ridge of the foothills in the distance. Plus, there's lots of color as the sky changes towards the ground.

I dunno. I really like this pic, but it could be that I have a lot attached to it. It's farmland (yeah, the dark part you can't see) in an area that's pretty damn close to being plowed under for houses and strip malls. I get to walk out my back door and see a sunrise unlike this every day. For now.

Monitor is fine. I originally said it to simply emphasize the ground being too dark. That's all. Plus, I did mention the phrase "at a glance". When I really stare at it there is obviously more and makes my hyperbole a little unjustified. Either way, it was just a passing remark. :)

Sorry, ayah. My subjective opinion of the art that I referenced above is that it is useless. I'll try to make sure that my personal opinions agree with your point of view before I make them next time. And yes, when there is a huge canvas with nothing on it, I don't think it's that hard to come to the conclusions that "I could do that". I guess I am just missing the deep transcendent spirituality behind a blank canvas.

It's actually in the direction of the sunrise, which I've mentioned 2x now, I think. :D You should see it sometime. Wanna go out? 8)

The sunset/view of Mt. Diablo is now blocked by shitty 2-story houses that they haven't quite been able to sell, yet. :x

Ooops...well, it's dark outside, maybe I never went home or slept? In that case, it would still be 'night'. ;)

Out? Ya sure you can handle me all night long?

Does anyone give honest, negative opinions there? The critiques I've read all seem sycophantic and insincere.
