So far I like all the albums on the list but this is probably too low for this monster. At least it's on the list.

i'm glad the list isn't like indie-centric and full of all this stuff that will be on every publication, but christ i hated this album the only time i listened to it.

I need to listen to this more. It's really long and I usually don't listen to it all in one sitting.

I had a conversation with Loogs about this record. I think the thing I can't get past is that I hold him up to his 50's output. When I listen to that stuff I hear this unbridled fury of him and his piano that just sounds so raw and vital.

It can't possibly live up to my expectations, but, that's my own issue.

It's still rock n roll and I am still surprised at how well he can play.

i also had expectations issues. from a music lovers standpoint, i'd rather have great musicians go out on top, or at least retire with some dignity, rather than listen to their slow decline. i didn't want to listen to this disc at first with respect to the Sun years, but i put my faith in the bbers here who recommended it and i'm glad i did. i've found it to not only be a "way better than i thought it would be" album but also a "one of the better albums released this year. period." album.

I'm glad you gave it a chance, man. There are some really special moments there.

*bump*

couldn't find a designated thread so this'll have to do, and its at least time appropriate.

Picked this up last night, and today I'm giving it a proper listen. While I really enjoy it, I cannot get over the hump that this is more of a novelty than anything else. The guest list is unfuckwithable, and the song choices are well-thought out to accentuate each artists styles. The key here to me, is to show listeners just how many artists Mr. Lewis has influenced over the ages.

One qualm though--and this would've brought the house down to embers...to end the album, a duet with Jerry Lee and his cousin Mickey Gilley. Hey, maybe for the sequel, right?
