we had 3 christmas parties at work - one was an internal 'battle of the bands' which was actually a lot of fun. they rented out the downstairs of the key club so we had that to ourselves. 2 drink ticket limit but the higher ups ended up buying everyone drinks.

then we had a christmas luncheon at marie callendar's... bleh, but the food was good and it was open bar so it was quite funny seeing everyone attempt to work the rest of the afternoon.

the big party was on tuesday - open bar and it was surprisingly a lot of fun. people are interesting when they are drunk.

been to 2 other magazine xmas events, open bar.... i'm done w/christmas parties, but then my friends' big party is on sat. man oh man, my poor liver.

no real party here this year, but my group is going out for a Blazer game in the company suite next Wednesday, and we're getting free food and booze. Eh, not my idea of a swell time, but hey... free food and booze. I won't be watching the game, I'm sure.

I just had my last Christmas party at my current employer (today's my last day!). They've all been pretty good, relatively speaking: Nice hotel ballroom, decent food (including a dessert bar this year that functioned like a Coldstone Creamery), open bar, door prizes, some dancing. But it only really got good once the "official" party ended at 9 p.m. and we all shifted to the hotel bar and proceeded to get hammered on overpriced drinks.

My new employer is *much* larger than my current one, so I'm hoping for a real blowout when that rolls around.

I'm going to one of these (or variation thereof) tonight. It's going to be a rager, for sure.

I hit up a indie-rock house Xmas party last night. I'm hungover today at work.

My official office party is Sunday at Sambuca. Nice! I think I have to dress up though.

Ours got cancelled this year. They claim it was to save cash, but the truth is they never replaced the Exec. Admin., after she left to go be a 4th grade teacher back in August, so nobody remembered to actually book a hotel for the festivities until it was too late.

You could always have a Winter Party. That's what we would do when all the hotels were booked nearby. Plus, it provides people a chance not to have to scurry during the holidays.

Btw, our company for the first time gave away gifts. Top prize? A 48" plasma TV. I didn't win.

we're having a party tonight, but there are also tentative plans for a departmental get-together in mid-january that will probably be better than whatever happens tonight.
