Congrats ahead of time to Tapes 'n' Tapes for likely being this year's most popular ambiguous release date album.

Heck, someone added "Tapes 'n Tapes - The Loon" to charts in December 2005, but that didn't stop "Tapes n Tapes - The Loon" from being added as a 2006 release later.

fastnbulbous had The Loon on his '03 best-of-year list, since he had heard a demo copy of what became the album in Sept '03. But, sure, it only featured one of the individuals that went on to form Tn'T, & was recorded under the name "Maw of America", but, yeah... You people, with the advent of file-sharing & internet-shopping (for import copies), should have been on to Tapes n' Tapes awhile ago.

i'm so far behind the bandwagon all the horsesh|t i step on is all dried up.

I only came up with about 23 albums that I listened to more than once. But my list is pretty much done.

I'm going to hold off on submitting just in case I do get the Ben Kweller for Christmas.

So, today as I sat down in my office to check messages and do the usual favorites check..I see that many sites have their best of 2006 lists up. God, how I love making this list every year. Then I realise how much I miss talking about music in general , since I abrubtly stopped posting here and anywhere quite awhile ago. I was a regular from the CMJ board and early obner. So I type obner into the old Y! box and here I am, I still see some familiar names, and mostly ones I do not know. Anyway..ayah, FT, Pop Todd whatever your new name is, Spontaneous Poet..others...I don't know what kept me away for so long, and I'm glad to be back. Does Kevin Haley still frequent these parts ?

go to "charts" and then put "2006" in the year field and click "search." that should bring up every 2006 release. they'll be scattered over several pages, but it'll just be the ones on the drop list on the poll site.

Thanks, Z... actually, I was looking to see a one page list of all the stuff, so I cut/pasted into a makeshift gif file... if anyone else wants it, see it here:

Also, keep in mind it won't show any late additions to the poll.

Great to see you back. I've wondered where you got off to many times recently. Stick with us, it really gets pretty good in here.

People,

I have missed this place. Thanks for the warm welcome back. Life got intensely crazy for awhile. Things have chilled. I am back to stay.

Ya know...my wife got a new job, the job looked great on paper and then the school turned out to be totally fucking dysfunctional, in the middle of it all she fell and injured herself...I ended up going on Family Medical Leave because she took a long time to recover...all this right, I mean right, after we bought a new house...then you know...kids, work blah, blah, blah..but she's all better now, things have normalized..and I'm ready to rejoin all my friends in obner land. Thanks for asking. You ?

Oddly enough, we just had a new house built, and the week before moving in, my wife fell and broke her arm right at the elbow. It still hasn't completely healed yet, but I think we got off much easier than you and yours, by comparison. Hope things keep getting better, Greg!

I'm unsure how to add albums to the listings. Any suggestions? (besides "Go away, you stupid girl moron").

my at-the-moment list, not in its own thread (and another 20-25 releases are kind of tied at #21 or so):

1. Various Artists - Rogue's Gallery
2. Tom Waits - Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards
3. Scott Walker - The Drift
4. Johnny Cash - American V: A Hundred Highways
5. Robyn Hitchcock - Ole Tarantula
6. Bob Dylan - Modern Times
7. Jerry Lee Lewis - Last Man Standing
8. Joanna Newsom - Ys
9. Liars - Drum's Not Dead
10. The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
11. Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
12. Drive By Truckers - A Blessing and a Curse
13. Solomon Burke - Nashville
14. The Fiery Furnaces - Bitter Tea
15. Eels - Live At Town Hall
16. Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies
17. Richard Butler - Richard Butler
18. Donald Fagen - Morph The Cat
19. Th' Legendary Shack Shakers - Pandelerium
20. The Church - Uninvited, Like the Clouds

Frank Black may move up in there somewhere. He's hovering. Also Pipettes, Two Gallants and Guillemots. Wish I had gotten TV On The Radio and Roddy Frame cds. Tracks I've heard were good.
