Do you have to beg for the cover artwork, too?

Nah, actually, that's a great idea. It's not worth trying to sell most books - they never get enough to make the trip worthwhile, and I have finicky tastes in books like I do in music, so used bookstores are hit and miss for me. And Amazon . . . it seems like a losing proposition to sell most books through them unless they sell for a decent amount. By the time Amazon takes their cut, you're left with a tiny amount.

Just signed. Listed about 26 books I've been holding onto for a while.

Requested 'About A Boy'.

That's one of my favorite Hornby books... so much better than the movie.

This site is awesome. I've been dying to trade books with someone.

Ditto. Substituting Nirvana for some generic rapper to make the movie more modern was stupid. I was looking forward to the ending with the record shop and prison and all that.

As I do with music, I maintain a library. I don't ever sell books unless they were so atrociously bad that it would be a disservice to foist them on someone else.

I just got Shopgirl in the mail for free today. That's awesome.

But I can't ask for anymore until somebody wants one of mine. And nobody does because it's 95% my sisters' Full House and Babysitters Club books.

So much for that site. At least I got one free book out of it.

How funny that this was bumped. I just got around to creating my account this morning. I'm vinylstar on there. I'm going to update my books this afternoon.

I have gotten so many free books through this. Two just arrived today.

All of Hornby's fiction books. Marc Spitz's How Soon Is Never?. An A.A. Milne mystery novella, some Vonnegut, Jason Lutes, etc.

Totally awesome. I've only had to send out three books too.

So far I've sent out 8 books and have received 2.

I've got about 15 titles on my want list but can't seem to get them from someone else yet.

Yeah, I can see how being a mailman would make it difficult for you to send off those books.

j/k

i mean i don't get free postage or discounts and to actually mail stuff i have to go down to the store, which isn't very far but it's just annoying to have to go there.

also, i haven't really found much that i've wanted on that site.

I use the site occasionally, but it's pretty irritating that they require the extra step of having to confirm that you actually want a particular title to be sent when it becomes available. I've missed out on quite a few books because the "available" e-mail was sent while I was at work and someone else got ahold of the book by the time I knew it was even there.

Should be like Lala where someone can send a title right away if you have it on your want list.

That's not really true unless you're selling books for less than $3. Usually they pad the shipping cost too, which usually offsets some of their rip.
