For me, the jury is still out on the new Of Montreal. It starts out guns blazin' with a song that has so much energy and is a lot of fun, but the album just kind of stagnates after that. I will def give it some more listens, since I really dig their previous stuff. Maybe it's a grower? Oh, I also really like the song that goes "Eva, I'm sorry, but you will never have me. To me you're just some faggy girl, and I need a lover with soul power. And you ain't got no soul power."

telling ya, i'm way into their new one.

Phantom Limb ?

I'm with Dalen and I would like go a step further and say it's the BEST Shins record.

"Phantom Limb" is probably the best, or one of the two best, tracks on that album. I will continue to allow room for growth, based on the M-Cap props.

You still haven't listened to the Levi then, for shame.

can you upload this for me? anyone? i love of montreal.

my favorite 2007 leak is definitely lcd soundsystem. i didn't really like it at first, but after a few good listens, i like it better than murphy's last effort.

a leaked copy qualified for my best-of-2006 (a policy i'll need to revisit in 2007).

Out of the 10 or 12 leaks I have thus far, the new Jesse Sykes is easily the one I like best, although I'm digging Low's Drums and Guns right now (like, literally, this very minute). Kind of curious to hear how everyone feels about it once it... gets around. Pretty minimal and dark, lots of looping and repetition in both the instrumentation and lyrics. Oddly enough, not nearly as much in the "drum" department as one might expect.

...I still have to actually open their Temporary Relief boxset I bought a couple months ago on the cheap.

i didn't like that Low album at all after the first listen. but that's coming from someone who really liked "the great destroyer" which i think most big Low fans hated.

Aereogramme is my fav '07 leak so far.

I do miss the hard rockingness of the first 2 albums but they still brought it.

Probably Phantom Limb.

I'm with Bob. I just can't get into it for some reason and I've given it what is usually sufficient time for an album to grow on me. Put this with this year's The Walkmen album A Hundred Miles Off and I could cry. Two bands that had unrelentingly good first and second albums, only to have a "junior" slump.

wilked, as always, I'm on board with your avatar.

REALLY excited to hear the Low based on the above descriptions. I have not really liked their last two albums, but this sounds more up my alley.

I've asked Cosmic Bus, but if anyone else can share, that'd be huge.

There was some question over whether the vocals on the leaked Low were finalized. Is that the version everyone has?

On it's way soon, Esh.

I'm a latter day fan of Low, so the kind of stuff they're doing on Drums and Destroyer sounds really great to my ears; I like the older tunes, too (was finally listening to the boxset and some of Things We Lost... today) but yeah, newer Low is more up my alley.

Also surprised to find myself bobbing along to Pop Levi tonight. I'm not nuts about it, but it's cooler than I expected.
