The fiance and I cleaned the fuck up. I think her dad and stepmom finally realized that A. I'm a pretty good guy and B. I really am taking her off their hands, so they loaded us down with stuff for the house. Add that to her mom and siblings and my parents (who are always very generous), plus our gifts to each other, and man--too fucking much. It was like a mini-wedding.

Actually, I got nothing for Christmas, but it was by design. Because we just moved into the new house, it was decided that this Christmas would be all kids no adults. I thought I would be OK with it, but sitting here the day after with no gifts, I realize I'm actually not that OK with it at all.

Hard to shake the greediness and selfishness instilled from 40 years as an only child.

Dammit Bob. I would sent you a fine Hickory Farms sampler had I known.

Didn't give much as I am completely broke. As in broke enough to not even go home for Christmas (all of my family is in Ohio). I stayed in Athens at my house and watched movies by myself. Great fun.
I did give my boss (for the company secret santa) a set of The Grill Trading Cards, with all employees (who have worked there a year at least) and as many vets as I could find still in town. Ended up being around 43 cards. Not too expensive to have printed, but took LOTS of time (getting photos, compiling info, learning the hell that is Photoshop, and designing the cards). I'm no artist, but they came out pretty good. He loved them. I also gave the ex-whatever-the-hell-he-was a gift, but it wasn't really a Christmas gift, just stuff I had that I hadn't ever given him before we quit talking to each other, which I didn't want to keep. I just wrapped it and left it on his porch late Sunday night... I got a coworker friend of mine some boots she really wanted that actually cost a pretty penny for me, but she's done a lot for me over the past year or so, so I wanted to get her something she would love.
I got... um. Really nothing. I did get a T-shirt from my secret santa at work. Oh, and a very (as in comically) large rubber dildo. That's it. Now that I think about it, I didn't even get a phone call from the family I couldn't go visit. Oh well.

hated to see that show go down...

my top present was a new dvd burner. ("old" one died. it was about 3.5 years old when it stopped burning. still reads ok, so i kept it as a #2.) also received guitar lessons certificate, a lot of clothes, and that bright eyes b-sides album, among other stuff.

My son is still up watching Sledge Hammer. Thinks it's "the most hilarious old show" he's ever seen.

Probably the weakest showing in south pacific history, I received:

soap
underwear
a bottle of cheap wine
a silver dildo-shaped travel mug
a Hawaiian shirt too big for me that was returned
Family Guy DVD set
two pomegranates
cd case
socks

I did give better than I got though...and that's what truly matters, right?...RIGHT?!

I gave:

Gold necklace with a black tahitian pearl
A round trip ticket to Chicago
Cold weather clothing for said trip to Chitown
various cool Puma sportswear
Baby Phat undergarments
Playstation games
Jamba Juice giftcards
Ayn Rand book
Wheat cd
$$$

Goddamn holidays. I'm fucking broke.

I have actually not bought nor received any Husker merchandise since about the mid 90's, currently I own a Tommie Frazier Jersey, two National Championship sweatshirts, a Husker winter coat, a Charlie McBride/Blackshirt t-shirt and a vintage Husker t-shirt from the 70's.
I have never had a Husker hoodie because I have at least three black zip-up hoodies that I usually wear on gamedays.

The Piece de Resistance:

2 tickets for Saturday and Sunday at the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway in April.

Haven't been to a Nascar race since I was 9 years old but, along with the Kentucky Derby and the Masters, I've wanted to go to Talladega forever. All of those are decidedly southern sporting events and Talladega is known as the Redneck Mardi Gras.

That is truly the most tragic Christmas story ever told...at least on Obner. I hope you have a much better New Year, Erin!

No shit. Do we need to pass the hat and send some burned albums in the mail?

Next time I'm in Athens I'll buy you a drink or 5.
